What they need

About the role

The Offshore Inspection Engineer is responsible for assessing the structural integrity, safety, and regulatory compliance of offshore installations, including platforms, pipelines, and associated equipment. This role plans and executes inspection campaigns – including visual inspections and non-destructive testing (NDT) – to detect degradation, verify fitness-for-service, and support the asset integrity management programme. The role requires periodic offshore rotations and close coordination with maintenance, integrity engineering, and operations teams.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and execute offshore inspection plans and schedules in line with the asset integrity management programme and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct and/or supervise visual inspections and NDT activities (e.g. UT, MPI, PT, RT) on structures, pipework, pressure equipment, and pipelines.
  • Ensure inspection scopes are fully aligned with company quality requirements, project specifications, and applicable inspection procedures.
  • Analyse inspection findings and assess structural/equipment integrity against relevant codes and standards.
  • Prepare clear, concise inspection reports detailing methods used, results, and any anomalies or limitations identified.
  • Issue repair/remediation recommendations based on inspection findings, and verify completed repairs where required.
  • Ensure inspection activities comply with statutory, client, and international standards (e.g. API, ASME).
  • Maintain accurate inspection records, certificates, and documentation in the relevant integrity management database.
  • Carry out all inspection activities in accordance with company Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality systems.
  • Liaise with maintenance, operations, and integrity engineering teams to prioritise and coordinate inspection findings and follow-up actions.

About you

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, Structural, Marine, or a related Engineering discipline.
  • 5–10 years of experience in inspection engineering, ideally within offshore oil & gas operations.
  • Relevant NDT/inspection certification (e.g. ISO 9712 / PCN / ASNT Level II or above in UT, MPI, PT, or RT) preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of inspection codes and standards (API, ASME, ISO) and asset integrity management principles.
  • Valid offshore certifications (medical fitness certificate, safety passport/BOSIET, or equivalent) required for offshore deployment.
