Company Description Union Brokerage & Services Sàrl is seeking an Oil and Gas Data Analyst Intern (100%) to support Owari, our new market intelligence application focused on West African oil and gas markets. The role centres on transforming raw vessel tracking and pricing data into reliable stock level estimates and forward-looking insights used by enterprise customers. The ideal candidate is highly analytical, detail-oriented, and comfortable working with messy real-world data to build robust, production-grade analytics and forecasting models.
Key Responsibilities:
- Clean, validate, and maintain large historical datasets, including AIS vessel tracking data and oil & gas price data, ensuring data accuracy and consistency across Owari’s analytics pipeline.
- Analyse vessel movements, port activity, and cargo flows to support supply-side intelligence and stock level estimation across key West African markets.
- Run, monitor, and improve Owari’s stock level estimation algorithms, incorporating vessel movements, cargo characteristics, and historical patterns.
- Manage and analyse oil and gas pricing datasets, ensuring high-quality inputs for analytics, dashboards, and forecasting models.
- Contribute to the development, testing, and refinement of price forecasting models, leveraging historical prices, supply-demand indicators, and market signals.
- Support stock level forecasting models by translating historical data and real-time indicators into forward-looking estimates within the Owari platform.
- Produce structured analytical outputs to support product features, internal research, and customer-facing insights.
- Monitor data quality and model performance, proactively identifying anomalies, gaps, or inconsistencies and working with engineering and product teams to address them.
- Document data sources, assumptions, and analytical methodologies to ensure transparency, reproducibility, and confidence in Owari’s intelligence products.
