OILER

Role Overview:
As an Oiler, you support the safe and efficient operation of the vessel’s engine room by performing lubrication, routine maintenance, and machinery monitoring. You work closely with the Chief Engineer and 2nd Engineer to ensure that engines, generators, pumps, compressors, and other machinery are properly maintained and operating safely and efficiently.

What You Will Do:

• Lubricate and service main engines, generators, pumps, compressors, and auxiliary equipment as instructed.
• Check and maintain oil levels, lubrication points, and filter conditions.
• Assist the Engineering and Mechanical team in troubleshooting and minor/major repairs of machinery and mechanical systems.
• Monitor machinery conditions and report unusual noises, leaks, or vibrations to the Chief Engineer/2nd Engineer.
• Clean and maintain the engine room, ensuring safe and organized working conditions.
• Assist in bunkering operations and maintain fuel/oil transfer logs when required.
• Record and report machinery running hours, fuel consumption, and technical issues.
• Ensure proper storage and inventory of tools, spare parts, and consumables.
• Maintain accurate engine room logs, maintenance records, and performance reports.
• Assist during emergency situations and participate in drills as required.
• Support vessel security by reporting any unauthorized access, theft, or other security incidents to the designated officer.

Qualifications:

• Basic knowledge of marine engines and machinery operations.
• Familiarity with lubrication, oil levels, filters, and routine machinery maintenance.
• Willing to work in an engine room environment and perform physically demanding tasks.
• Hardworking, responsible, and willing to learn.
• Able to follow safety procedures and instructions from the Engineering team.
• Previous experience as an Oiler, Engine Utility, Wiper, or similar marine engine room position is an advantage.
