Olive Grove Assistant

About the role

Join our Groves team at Allpress Olive Groves on Waiheke Island as a hands-on person working with machinery and growing fresh NZ olive oil. You'll work alongside our experienced Groves Operations Manager, learning the skills involved in maintaining our olive groves and growing olives to produce premium extra virgin olive oil. No previous olive growing experience is necessary.

Key responsibilities

• Operating tractors and other equipment for harvesting, mulching, spraying and general grove maintenance.
• Carrying out basic checks and routine maintenance on tractors, off-road vehicles, chainsaws and other equipment.
• Helping improve the health and condition of our olive trees through pruning, fertilizing, data collection and general orchard management.
• Assisting with team coordination during peak seasonal tasks, working as part of a core team to ensure efficient use of resources across different locations.
• Helping prepare for and carry out our seasonal olive harvest.
• Supporting the wider Grounds & Gardens team with outdoor maintenance when needed.
• Working as part of a small, hands-on team to keep our groves and equipment in excellent condition.

About you

• Practical experience working on a farm, orchard or similar outdoor operation.
• Confidence operating tractors, chainsaws and farm machinery, with a good understanding of safe working practices.
• A hands-on approach and the ability to carry out routine equipment checks and basic maintenance.
• A reliable, positive attitude and a willingness to learn new skills.
• Someone who enjoys working outdoors with a good level of physical fitness.
• Flexibility to work weekends during our peak seasonal activities.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work well with others.
