About Us

Homewood Suites by Hilton Oak Creek Milwaukee is home to Creekside Crossing Conference Center, where we host corporate meetings, celebrations, weddings, banquets, and special events. We're looking for dependable, service-oriented Banquet Servers who take pride in providing excellent guest service and helping our events run smoothly from start to finish.

About the Position

The On-Call Banquet Server is responsible for providing professional guest service across a variety of events, including corporate meetings, weddings, banquets, and special celebrations. Service styles may include plated meals, passed appetizers, buffet service, stations, and other event-specific food and beverage service.

We partner with an outside catering company for food preparation and catering services. However, our banquet team is responsible for preparing event spaces and service areas, completing buffet setup—including transferring prepared food into hotel pans and arranging food for service—and ensuring all event-related cleanup and breakdown duties are completed.

This is a hands-on position for someone who is dependable, detail-oriented, and willing to assist wherever needed. Our team works together to ensure every event is properly serviced and every space is left clean, organized, and ready for the next event.

Key Responsibilities

Event Setup, Food Service & Guest Experience

  • Set up guest tables, service stations, and food and beverage areas according to the Banquet Event Order (BEO) and event specifications.
  • Provide professional, friendly, and attentive service throughout events.
  • Perform various styles of food and beverage service, including plated meals, passed appetizers, buffet service, and food stations, as required by the event.
  • Prepare buffet displays by transferring prepared food into hotel buffet pans and chafing dishes, arranging food for presentation, and ensuring the buffet is properly stocked and ready for guests.
  • Replenish buffet items, monitor food presentation, and maintain clean, presentable service areas.
  • Follow proper food-handling, sanitation, and temperature-control procedures.
  • Communicate food, beverage, and supply needs to the appropriate team members.
  • Follow event timelines and service instructions to ensure all requirements are met.

Cleanup & Breakdown

  • Clear tables, remove used dishes, and maintain clean event spaces during and after functions.
  • Wash dishes, utensils, and service equipment as needed, particularly for smaller events where additional cleanup support is required.
  • Clean and sanitize buffet stations, service areas, and equipment after events.
  • Break down buffets and event spaces and return all equipment, serving utensils, supplies, and furniture to their designated storage locations.
  • Properly separate used banquet linens and deliver them to the Housekeeping Department according to hotel procedures.
  • Maintain clean, organized banquet storage areas and shared workspaces.
  • Complete all assigned duties before leaving the property.

What We're Looking For

  • A friendly, professional attitude and commitment to guest satisfaction.
  • Dependability, punctuality, and strong attention to detail.
  • Willingness to assist with serving, buffet preparation, dishwashing, cleaning, and breakdown duties.
  • Ability to follow BEOs, instructions, and established hotel procedures.
  • Strong teamwork skills and the ability to work independently when needed.
  • Pride in maintaining clean, organized spaces and returning items to their proper locations.
  • Ability to remain on your feet for extended periods and lift, carry, push, and pull supplies and equipment, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Previous banquet, catering, restaurant, or hospitality experience is preferred but not required.

Schedule & Availability

This is an on-call position requiring weekday availability in addition to weekend and flexibility based on event bookings.

  • Availability during the week is essential to support corporate meetings, daytime events, and other functions.
  • Shifts may include weekdays, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Hours vary based on event bookings and business needs.
  • Some shifts may be shorter or focused primarily on serving and cleaning up smaller events.
  • This position does not guarantee a set number of hours each week.

Shift Sign-Up & Scheduling

Available shifts are communicated through a shared sign-up sheet. Employees are responsible for reviewing available shifts, signing up for shifts they can commit to working, and keeping their availability up to date. We will provide exact scheduled times by Thursday of the week prior.

Once signed up, employees are expected to honor their scheduled commitments and communicate any scheduling concerns to management promptly. Employees are responsible for taking initiative when selecting available shifts rather than relying on management to individually request their availability.

Compensation & Gratuity

The base hourly wage is $5.00 per hour plus guaranteed event gratuity, with typical total earnings equivalent to $20–$28 per hour, including gratuity.

Gratuity is distributed according to the hotel's established policy. Total earnings may vary depending on the event, hours worked, and applicable gratuity distribution.

Professional Standards

Employees are expected to arrive on time, dressed in the required uniform, and ready to work. Professional guest service, attention to detail, teamwork, and accountability are essential.

All setups, service duties, and breakdowns must be completed according to event instructions and hotel standards. Every team member is responsible for leaving event spaces and storage areas clean, organized, and ready for the next event.

All equipment, serving supplies, and furniture must be returned to their designated locations. Used linens must be properly separated and delivered to Housekeeping. Employees are expected to complete their assigned responsibilities before clocking out.

Join Our Team!

If you're dependable, enjoy working with people, and take pride in doing a job well from event setup through final cleanup, we'd love to hear from you!
