On Call Library Assistant

Description

On Call Library Assistants deliver circulation services to the community, assist in library collection maintenance, and maintain a safe and welcoming library environment. They promote inclusiveness in all aspects of their work. This position works under the direction of a library manager.

Essential Functions

• Accurately maintain library filing systems.
• Operate basic office equipment.
• Work effectively with the public.
• Shelve large volume of books and other library materials.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships.
• Work as a team member.
• Perform the essential functions of the job.

Education & Experience

Education/Certifications

• High school graduate or equivalent

Experience:

• 1 year of customer service experience
• Library experience preferred

Additional Information

Working Conditions: On Call Library Assistants generally work in a library/office setting. They regularly and frequently interact with the public. Work routinely requires extended shifts at public service desks, where they answer questions and assist patrons with library accounts and materials. Work includes moving book crates and carts up to 40 pounds and positioning self at various heights to process materials. Work periodically includes stressful, emotionally heightened situations including emergencies, behavioral problems, intoxication, and health events.

Additional Information: Evening and weekend work required
