What they need
Join the team behind every great first impression
Every new colleague's journey starts with onboarding, and we're looking for an organised, proactive and customer-focused Onboarding Assistant to help create a brilliant experience from offer through to day one.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join NHS Property Services' Talent team on a 6 months fixed term contract and play a key role in welcoming new colleagues to our organisation.
Who You Are
As our Onboarding Assistant, you'll be at the centre of a fast-paced, high-volume onboarding operation, helping to ensure every new colleague receives a positive and professional experience from offer through to their first day. No two days are the same. You'll be coordinating pre-employment checks, managing onboarding activities, supporting hiring managers and candidates, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring multiple onboarding journeys progress smoothly and efficiently. This is a busy and rewarding role, managing a high volume of onboarding activity at any one time. Success in the role requires excellent organisation, resilience, attention to detail and the ability to prioritise effectively whilst delivering a great colleague experience.
We're looking for someone who thrives in a fast-moving environment, enjoys managing competing priorities and is comfortable handling multiple tasks simultaneously. You'll be highly organised, proactive and able to stay one step ahead whilst delivering an excellent service to both candidates and colleagues.
What You'll Bring
We're keen to hear from candidates who can demonstrate:
- Exceptional organisation and prioritisation skills
- Experience managing a high volume of work and multiple deadlines
- Confidence juggling competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy
- Experience working with systems, databases and documentation
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building abilities
- The ability to remain calm and solution-focused under pressure
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement
- The ability to work independently whilst collaborating effectively within a team
We welcome applications from candidates with experience in administration, customer service, recruitment, HR, operations, payroll, contact centres, helpdesks or other roles where organisation, service delivery and stakeholder management are key. We recognise that valuable transferable skills can be developed through a variety of roles and experiences and we'd love to hear from candidates who feel they can bring these strengths to our team.
Why Join the Talent Team?
Joining our Talent team means becoming part of a supportive and ambitious function that plays a critical role in helping NHS Property Services attract, recruit and retain great people.
You'll gain experience in recruitment and onboarding while developing valuable skills in stakeholder management, administration, customer experience and service delivery. You'll work with colleagues across the organisation, learn from experienced Talent professionals, and play a meaningful role in shaping the experience of every new colleague joining NHSPS.
Where You'll Be
This is a hybrid role based at Regent House, Stockport, with a salary from £26,000 per annum .
What We Can Offer You
We understand how important life is outside of work so, as well as a competitive salary, we also offer:
- 27 days annual leave plus 8 bank holidays, with the option to buy an additional week's leave
- A Smarter Working Policy, empowering you to choose where and how you work based on your daily activities
- Training and development opportunities through our Professional Excellence Framework
- SMART Pension contributions, with company contributions of up to 6%
- A range of flexible benefits, including NHS retail discounts and Cycle to Work Scheme

An Organisation with a Purpose
