Oncology Coder for a Cancer institute

FULL-TIME INPATIENT CANCER CODER – REMOTE

Pay Rate: $41.00/hour
Schedule: Full-Time | 40 Hours per Week

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Inpatient Cancer Coder for a long-term, full-time remote opportunity. The ideal candidate will have 3–5+ years of inpatient cancer coding experience in an acute-care setting and strong experience coding complex medical and surgical oncology cases.

Required Qualifications

• 3–5+ years of inpatient coding experience
• Experience in an acute-care hospital setting
• Strong experience coding complex medical and surgical cancer cases
• CCS certification is required
• RHIA, RHIT, CPC, or COC may be accepted only in addition to CCS
• Athena experience is required
• Experience with Altera Sunrise or Mosaic is required; experience with either system is acceptable
• Strong understanding of NCI Cancer Coding Guidelines
• SEER training/experience required
• Understanding of Vizient mortality models
• Strong ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS inpatient coding knowledge
• Ability to accurately code complex oncology cases while meeting quality and productivity standards

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with both Altera Sunrise and Mosaic
• Cancer center or academic medical center experience
• Extensive oncology coding experience
• Experience with complex surgical and high-acuity cancer cases

Responsibilities

• Perform accurate inpatient coding for complex cancer and oncology cases
• Review medical records, operative reports, pathology, and clinical documentation
• Assign accurate ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes
• Apply NCI and SEER guidelines
• Utilize knowledge of Vizient mortality models
• Ensure coding accuracy, compliance, and completeness
• Meet established productivity and quality standards
• Work independently in a remote environment

Important: CCS certification, inpatient cancer coding experience, Athena experience, and experience with Altera Sunrise or Mosaic are required.

Pay: $41.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 per week
