OneStream Functional Implementation Consultant

Position Overview

A large, multi-location organization is seeking an experienced OneStream Functional Implementation Consultant to support a significant finance systems transformation initiative.

The consultant will work closely with Controller-level finance leadership to help design, implement, and deploy OneStream across a complex, multi-entity environment. The primary focus will be understanding accounting and reporting requirements, developing functional solutions, supporting financial data mapping and integration, and ensuring the system meets the organization's business needs.

This is a functional implementation role, not a technical development or coding position. Dedicated technical resources will be available to handle coding, scripting, and system development. The consultant will collaborate with those resources to translate finance requirements into effective OneStream solutions.

Candidates must have prior hands-on experience participating in a OneStream implementation. Experience solely as an end user is not sufficient.

Key Responsibilities

Functional Design & Implementation

• Partner with Controllers and finance leadership to gather, document, and translate accounting and reporting requirements into functional OneStream solutions.
• Support functional design decisions involving financial consolidation, reporting structures, workflows, and business processes.
• Work alongside technical implementation resources to ensure system configuration and development align with business requirements.
• Participate throughout the implementation lifecycle, including design, testing, deployment, and transition.

Financial Data Mapping & Integration

• Lead functional aspects of financial data mapping across multiple entities, locations, and source systems.
• Help define chart-of-accounts mappings, reporting hierarchies, and consolidation requirements.
• Validate financial data accuracy, completeness, and consistency within OneStream.
• Identify and help resolve data discrepancies, reconciliation issues, and process gaps.

Testing, Deployment & Stakeholder Support

• Develop and execute functional testing scenarios to confirm the system meets accounting and reporting requirements.
• Collaborate with technical teams to troubleshoot implementation issues and validate solutions.
• Communicate progress, risks, and recommendations to Controller-level stakeholders.
• Support user acceptance testing, go-live readiness, knowledge transfer, and transition to the internal finance team.

Required Qualifications

• Prior hands-on experience with at least one OneStream implementation or deployment.
• Strong functional knowledge of OneStream, particularly financial consolidation, reporting, data mapping, and workflows.
• Solid accounting and finance background with an understanding of multi-entity consolidations and financial reporting.
• Experience gathering business requirements and translating them into functional system specifications.
• Experience validating financial data across multiple ERP systems or operating entities.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with technical developers without personally performing coding or development.
• Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to independently manage functional implementation responsibilities.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with multiple OneStream implementations.
• Background in corporate accounting, controllership, financial systems, or finance transformation consulting.
• Experience supporting complex, multi-location or multi-entity organizations.
• Prior experience working directly with Controllers and senior finance leadership.

Engagement Structure

The consultant will serve as a key functional resource connecting finance leadership with the technical implementation team.

Coding and technical development are not required. Dedicated technical resources will support those activities, allowing the consultant to focus on functional design, financial data integrity, business requirements, testing, and successful implementation.
