Speak! Language Center is seeking an engaging, experienced Mandarin Chinese instructor to join our team of language professionals. This is a remote, part-time teaching position working with both adult and younger learners in personalized one-on-one and small-group lessons.

Founded in 2004, Speak! Language Center provides personalized language and communication training to individuals, families, businesses, universities, and organizations. Our approach is practical, conversational, culturally rich, and tailored to each learner’s goals.

What You'll Do

• Teach live online Mandarin Chinese lessons via Zoom
• Work with both adult learners and children/teens
• Provide primarily one-on-one and small-group instruction
• Adapt lessons to each learner’s age, interests, level, and goals
• Emphasize practical communication, pronunciation, listening comprehension, vocabulary, and cultural understanding
• Create a welcoming, encouraging environment that helps learners become confident communicators
• Communicate reliably with Speak! staff regarding scheduling and student progress

What We're Looking For

• Native or near-native proficiency in Mandarin Chinese
• Strong English communication skills
• Experience teaching Mandarin Chinese to adults and/or children
• Ability to explain language concepts clearly and adapt instruction to different ages and learning styles
• Enthusiasm for sharing Chinese language and culture
• Warm, engaging, and professional teaching style
• Reliable internet connection and comfort teaching via Zoom with own pro account.
• Dependability, responsiveness, and excellent communication skills

A degree in Chinese, education, linguistics, language teaching, or a related field is welcome but not required. We are particularly interested in instructors who bring substantial teaching experience and a strong ability to connect with learners.

About the Position

• Location: Remote
• Schedule: Part-time and flexible; hours depend on student enrollment and instructor availability
• Students: Adults, children, and teens
• Format: Primarily personalized one-on-one instruction, with occasional small groups
• Compensation: $30–$37 per instructional hour, depending on experience and qualifications; higher rates may apply for semi-private or group instruction
• Independent contractor position

Because many of our students schedule lessons after school or work, afternoon and evening availability in U.S. time zones is especially helpful.
