What they need

Open Cut Examiner (OCE)

Open Cut Truck & Shovel Operation, Queensland | 7/7 Roster

This organisation drives a strong company values, places safety at the centre of everything it does, and is embarking on an exciting, bullish ramp up phase to support growth. This unique truck and shovel operation has engaged Pivot to add two more Open Cut Examiners to join the site team on a 7 days on, 7 days off roster.

About the Role

This is a statutory site role central to the safe and compliant conduct of mining operations during your shift. As OCE, you will hold shift-based statutory responsibility for the health and safety of persons at the mine, ensuring operations are conducted in accordance with the mine's safety and health management system and relevant legislation. You will work closely with supervisors, operators, and the broader leadership team to maintain a strong safety culture on the ground, while supporting the site through its ramp-up phase and ongoing operations.

About You

You bring solid site experience in an open cut truck and shovel environment, with a genuine, hands-on commitment to safety leadership rather than a tick-box approach to compliance. You hold an OCE statutory certification, and you're confident making sound, defensible decisions under operational pressure. You're motivated by the chance to be part of a business in genuine growth mode, backed by a strong, established senior leadership team, and you're comfortable with the rhythm of a 7/7 roster.

Key Requirements

  • OCE statutory certificate of competency (or eligibility to obtain)
  • Site experience within a truck and shovel open cut operation
  • Strong working knowledge of the Coal Mining Safety and Health Act and Regulation
  • Ability to lead and influence safety behaviour across shift teams
  • Sound decision-making and risk assessment under operational pressure
  • Strong communication skills across site and leadership stakeholders

What's on Offer

A highly attractive remuneration package, commensurate with experience. Offered on a 7/7 roster, with drive-in drive-out from the surrounding region or FIFO from Brisbane— full details available on application. Genuine career upside working on a unique and growing operation. All discussions are held in strict confidence.
