Shyld AI is seeking an experienced operating room leader to advise our team as we develop solutions for healthcare environments.
We are looking for someone with deep, hands-on knowledge of operating room management—not solely general healthcare consulting experience. The ideal candidate understands how ORs operate in practice, the challenges faced by clinical and operational teams, and how hospitals evaluate and adopt new solutions.
Responsibilities
- Advise our team on OR workflows, priorities, and operational pain points
- Review product concepts and provide practical feedback from an OR leadership perspective
- Help prioritize product requirements based on their value to hospitals
- Participate in selected customer discovery, feedback, and presentation calls
- Help translate customer needs into clear recommendations for our product team
- Advise on appropriate operational metrics and methods for demonstrating value
- Help ensure our communications resonate with perioperative staff and hospital leadership
Ideal Background
- 10+ years of experience in perioperative services or surgical operations
- Significant management experience as an OR Director, Director of Perioperative Services, OR Nurse Manager, Surgical Services Administrator, OR Business Manager, or a comparable role
- Direct responsibility for operating room performance, staffing, scheduling, or departmental operations
- Strong understanding of the needs of surgeons, anesthesia teams, nursing, hospital operations, and executive leadership
- Experience participating in operational improvement or technology implementation initiatives
- Strong communication skills and comfort speaking with hospital customers
- Ability to provide candid, practical, and actionable feedback
Additional Experience We Value
- Experience working across multiple hospitals or health systems
- Hospital performance improvement or change-management experience
- Experience evaluating or implementing healthcare technology
- Participation in hospital purchasing, vendor evaluation, or business-case development
- Lean, Six Sigma, CNOR, RN, MSN, MBA, or MHA credentials are helpful but not required
Engagement Details
- Hourly independent-contractor engagement
- Flexible, part-time schedule based on project needs
- Primarily remote, with potential customer calls or occasional meetings as mutually agreed
- Current, former, retired, and semi-retired perioperative leaders are welcome to apply, subject to applicable conflict-of-interest policies
