Operation & Engineering Manager

About the role

Lead, manage, and oversee all mining engineering activities, including mine planning, short-term and long-term mine design, production scheduling, and mine sequence development. Ensure alignment between engineering plans and actual site operations, including overburden removal, coal getting, coal hauling, and waste disposal activities. Provide technical recommendations and strategic engineering solutions to management to support business decisions and long-term operational sustainability.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, manage, and oversee all mining engineering activities, including mine planning, short-term and long-term mine design, production scheduling, and mine sequence development
• Develop, review, and optimize mine plans, pit designs, dump designs, hauling roads, and other mining infrastructure to ensure operational efficiency and compliance with technical standards
• Ensure alignment between engineering plans and actual site operations, including overburden removal, coal getting, coal hauling, and waste disposal activities
• Monitor and evaluate mining engineering performance, including stripping ratio, production targets, equipment productivity, and mining cost efficiency
• Coordinate with Mine Planning, Survey, Geology, Geotechnical, and other technical teams to ensure the accuracy and reliability of engineering data and mine designs
• Review and validate monthly, weekly, and daily mine plans to ensure achievable production targets, effective equipment allocation, and optimal utilization of resources
• Analyze mining performance data, identify technical deviations, and develop corrective action plans to improve productivity and reduce operating costs
• Ensure all engineering activities comply with Good Mining Practice, applicable mining regulations, technical standards, and client requirements
• Monitor and evaluate daily mining operations to ensure compliance with approved mine plans, production targets, and operational schedules
• Lead coordination between Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, HSE, Survey, Geology, and other relevant departments to ensure integrated project performance

About you

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a related engineering discipline
• Minimum 8–10 years of experience in the coal mining industry, preferably with a mining contractor
• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in a managerial or senior leadership role in Mining Engineering, Mine Planning, or integrated Engineering and Operations
• Strong expertise in mine planning, mine design, production scheduling, pit optimization, dump design, and mining sequence development
• Solid understanding of coal mining operations, including overburden removal, coal getting, coal hauling, stripping ratio, and heavy equipment productivity
• Proficient in mining engineering software such as Minescape, Minex, Surpac, Deswik, or other relevant mine planning applications
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, project management, and strategic planning skills
• Familiar with Indonesian mining regulations, Good Mining Practice, and occupational health and safety requirements
• Excellent leadership, communication, coordination, and decision-making skills
• Willing to travel and be assigned to mining project sites as required by the company
