Operation and Maintenance Engineer

The Operation and Maintenance (O&M) Engineer for a solar power project is responsible for ensuring the efficient, safe, and reliable operation of photovoltaic (PV) systems. This role involves performing routine maintenance, monitoring system performance, troubleshooting issues, and implementing corrective actions to minimize downtime and optimize energy output.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

· Monitor daily performance of the solar power plant using SCADA or other monitoring systems.

· Conduct routine inspection, testing, and preventive maintenance of PV modules, inverters, transformers, and electrical equipment.

· Diagnose system faults and perform corrective maintenance to restore optimal functionality.

· Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly performance and maintenance reports.

· Ensure compliance with safety standards, environmental regulations, and company policies.

· Coordinate with OEMs, contractors, and utility providers for technical support and issue resolution.

· Maintain detailed documentation of maintenance activities and inventory of spare parts.

· Support root cause analysis of system issues and recommend improvements.

· Provide input to plant performance forecasting and budgeting.

· Assist with commissioning and integration of new solar systems or upgrades.

Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.

· Proven experience in solar PV system operation and maintenance.

· Strong understanding of electrical systems, power electronics, and grid interconnection.

· Proficient in using monitoring platforms, diagnostic tools, and maintenance procedures.

· Familiarity with safety protocols such as LOTO (Lockout/Tagout), PPE use, and electrical safety standards.

· Good communication skills and ability to work independently or in a team environment.
