What they need

We are hiring a Business Development & Operations Manager to lead sales growth and manage the full day-to-day operations of our security guard business throughout the Sacramento region.

This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for bringing in new business, maintaining client relationships, managing security personnel, and ensuring dependable service across all assigned accounts. You will oversee the process from the first sales conversation through contract negotiations, staffing, service delivery, and account renewals.

We are looking for someone who takes ownership, follows through, and can balance business development with the demands of running daily security operations.

Business Development & Sales

  • Identify and pursue new security service opportunities with commercial properties, residential communities, construction sites, retail centers, warehouses, and other businesses.
  • Generate leads through cold calling, email outreach, networking, referrals, and in-person visits.
  • Build relationships with property managers, facility managers, business owners, and other decision-makers throughout the Sacramento region.
  • Manage the full sales cycle, including prospecting, site assessments, presentations, proposals, negotiations, and closing.
  • Prepare pricing and service proposals in coordination with leadership, accounting for staffing needs, operating costs, and profitability.
  • Maintain an accurate CRM pipeline with documented activity, follow-up dates, forecasts, and next steps.
  • Develop and execute sales plans with clear targets for new contracts, revenue, and account growth.
  • Coordinate marketing efforts and participate in relevant networking events and industry associations.
  • Identify opportunities to expand services for existing clients and manage contract renewals.
  • Monitor local market conditions, competitor activity, and client feedback to improve sales efforts.

Daily Operations & Service Delivery

  • Take ownership of daily operations across assigned accounts, ensuring posts are staffed and service commitments are met.
  • Oversee scheduling, officer assignments, attendance, shift transitions, and relief coverage.
  • Resolve call-offs, no-shows, late arrivals, and staffing shortages promptly.
  • Coordinate with dispatch, supervisors, and field personnel to maintain clear communication and timely responses.
  • Conduct regular site visits and unannounced inspections to evaluate officer performance, appearance, readiness, and adherence to post orders.
  • Develop and maintain site-specific post orders, patrol requirements, emergency procedures, and reporting expectations.
  • Review incident reports, daily activity reports, patrol records, and attendance exceptions for accuracy and follow-up.
  • Manage new account launches, including site walkthroughs, staffing, training, equipment, and client introductions.
  • Ensure officers have the uniforms, equipment, site information, and system access needed to perform their duties.
  • Address service failures and implement corrective actions to prevent repeat issues.
  • Respond to urgent operational matters outside regular business hours when needed.

Staffing & Team Leadership

  • Oversee recruiting, interviewing, hiring coordination, onboarding, and site placement.
  • Coordinate verification of required credentials and training before assigning personnel.
  • Train officers and supervisors on company standards, client expectations, reporting systems, and site procedures.
  • Coach employees, document performance concerns, and coordinate corrective action with leadership or HR.
  • Build a dependable relief team to support call-offs, new accounts, and temporary coverage.
  • Hold supervisors and officers accountable for attendance, professionalism, communication, and service quality.
  • Support employee retention through clear expectations, consistent follow-up, and fair treatment.

Client Relations & Account Management

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for clients and maintain regular communication.
  • Conduct client check-ins and service reviews to confirm expectations are being met.
  • Address complaints promptly, investigate concerns, and communicate the resolution.
  • Coordinate changes in coverage, staffing, post instructions, and service scope.
  • Maintain accurate records of client requests and ensure instructions reach the appropriate personnel.
  • Strengthen client retention through responsive communication and consistent service.

Financial & Administrative Oversight

  • Monitor labor costs, overtime, staffing levels, and account profitability.
  • Review timekeeping and payroll submissions for accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
  • Coordinate with billing to confirm service hours, approved additional coverage, and invoice accuracy.
  • Keep staffing and service delivery aligned with contract terms and approved budgets.
  • Track sales results, staffing gaps, overtime, client retention, and service performance.
  • Provide leadership with regular updates on business development, operational issues, and corrective actions.
  • Identify practical improvements to scheduling, reporting, communication, and daily workflows.

Required Qualifications

  • Proven experience in business development and operations management within the security guard industry.
  • Demonstrated success generating leads, winning contracts, and growing client accounts.
  • Experience managing security officers, supervisors, scheduling, and multiple client locations.
  • Strong understanding of security service delivery, staffing challenges, and client expectations.
  • Ability to prepare proposals, negotiate agreements, and evaluate account profitability.
  • Strong communication, organization, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience using CRM, scheduling, timekeeping, and security reporting software.
  • Working knowledge of applicable California private security requirements and BSIS standards.
  • Ability to travel throughout the Sacramento region for prospect meetings, site visits, and operational needs.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Availability to handle urgent staffing or client issues outside regular business hours.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Established relationships with property managers, facility managers, or other security service buyers in the Sacramento region.
  • Experience launching new accounts and expanding a security company’s local presence.
  • Experience managing operational budgets, contract renewals, and employee performance.

What Success Looks Like

Success in this role means winning profitable accounts, retaining clients, maintaining dependable staffing, controlling unnecessary overtime, and ensuring officers consistently meet company and client standards.
