About the role

We are looking for an experienced and hands-on Operations & Engineering Manager to join Hultsteins UK.

This is a practical management role within a busy engineering and aftersales environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating day-to-day engineering and workshop activities, supporting field engineers, managing jobs and ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and to the required standard.

The role will suit someone with a strong engineering or workshop background who is comfortable being involved in the detail as well as managing people and workload.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate the day-to-day engineering and workshop activities.
• Manage and support a small team of engineers and operational staff.
• Plan and allocate work, including breakdowns, servicing, repairs and workshop jobs.
• Coordinate field engineers and ensure jobs are completed efficiently.
• Monitor workload, priorities and customer requirements.
• Provide technical and practical support where required.
• Oversee stock, parts and inventory requirements.
• Liaise with suppliers and support procurement of parts and equipment.
• Ensure jobs are properly documented and completed.
• Support health & safety requirements and ensure appropriate procedures are followed.
• Assist with RAMS, LOLER, PUWER and other relevant compliance requirements.
• Support engineer training and development.
• Deal with customers and suppliers where technical or operational input is required.
• Identify opportunities to improve operational processes and efficiency.
• Maintain a practical, hands-on approach to problem solving.

About you

We are looking for someone who has:

• Strong engineering, workshop, maintenance or fleet experience.
• Experience managing or supervising engineers or technical staff.
• Good practical problem-solving skills.
• The ability to organise and prioritise a varied workload.
• Good communication skills with customers, suppliers and internal teams.
• Experience working in a fast-paced operational environment.
• A good understanding of health & safety and engineering compliance.
• Experience with hydraulics would be advantageous.
• HGV Licence / fleet experience would be advantageous.
• The ability to work both independently and as part of a small team.

The role

This is a hands-on management position within a relatively small team, so we are looking for someone who is comfortable managing the workload, supporting the team and getting involved when required.

The role offers the opportunity to have a direct impact on the efficiency and development of the engineering and aftersales operation.

Salary: £40,000–£60,000 depending on experience.
