Operations and Maintenance Manager

We are conducting a search on behalf of a global energy company specialising in LNG infrastructure and floating regasification solutions for an experienced Operations & Maintenance Manager to establish and lead operations for a major FSRU and LNG import terminal project in Iraq .

Role Overview:

This is a senior leadership position responsible for establishing the O&M organisation and operational readiness for a major LNG-to-power project. The role will oversee the operational interface across the FSRU, LNG cargo and ship-to-ship transfers, jetty and terminal operations, and final gas delivery , while leading the transition from EPC and commissioning into live operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Establish and lead the O&M organisation, operating model, governance and procedures
• Support the transition from EPC through commissioning into operational readiness
• Develop operating procedures, maintenance systems, safety controls and technical standards
• Oversee ship-to-ship LNG transfer operations and the operational interface with the FSRU
• Manage third-party contractors responsible for jetty and terminal operations
• Coordinate vessel management, internal teams, outsourced providers and regional stakeholders
• Ensure safe, reliable and continuous marine and terminal operations
• Ensure contracted gas volumes are delivered within required schedules and operating parameters
• Manage operational budgets, costs and commercial performance
• Recruit, onboard and develop the initial marine and operations team
• Report operational performance, readiness, risks and corrective actions to senior leadership

Qualifications & Experience:

• Approximately 15+ years’ maritime or marine operations experience
• Minimum 3–5 years in a substantial management/leadership position
• Master Mariner Unlimited or Chief Engineer Unlimited certificate – non-negotiable
• Strong experience in vessel, terminal and marine operations
• Proven experience leading operational teams and managing third-party contractors
• Experience establishing operational structures, procedures and readiness plans
• Strong budget-management and commercial capabilities
• Experience within LNG, FSRU operations, LNG terminals or ship-to-ship LNG transfers is highly preferred
• Middle East/Gulf operating experience is advantageous
• University degree preferred but not essential where strong maritime credentials and operational experience are demonstrated
• Ability to travel regularly between Iraq, UAE and the wider Gulf region
