What they need
About Sockerbit
Sockerbit is a Los Angeles–based Swedish candy company. We sell direct to consumers online and wholesale to retailers including Target, Nordstrom, World Market, Anthropologie and independent shops via Faire. Our product travels a long way to reach a shelf: imported by ocean, co-packed, warehoused across multiple locations and shipped to retail partners against tight delivery windows. We're a small team, so this role has real ownership and a direct line to how the business runs.
The role
The Operations Associate keeps day to day operations moving. This is a remote position that reports to the Director of Operations and works closely with our warehouses, co-packer, carriers and sales team.
What you'll do
Freight & logistics
- Book inbound and outbound freight (LTL, FTL, parcel and drayage) and obtain and compare carrier quotes
- Schedule pickups and delivery appointments, following each retailer's routing guide
- Track shipments through delivery and proactively flag delays
- Audit freight invoices against quotes and bills of lading before approval
ASN, EDI & order management
- Create and send ASNs and other EDI documents (e.g. 856, 810) through SPS Commerce and our partners WMS, accurately and on time.
- Monitor incoming retailer POs, ship windows and cancel dates; enter or import orders into our ERP (Odoo)
- Work closely with the Director of Supply Chain to manage OTIF orders.
Warehouse communications
- Serve as the primary point of contact for our 3PL and in-house warehouse teams
- Send release/pick instructions, confirm ship-ready status and resolve discrepancies
- Coordinate priorities so orders ship complete and within the retailer's window
Retailer operations
- Manage day-to-day retailer communications: delivery issues, refused or rejected shipments, short/over shipments and appointment changes
- Collect and file proof of delivery (POD) and bills of lading for every shipment
- Track compliance chargebacks and deductions and gather backup documentation to support Director investigation.
Vendor & purchase order management
- Communicate with suppliers and our co-packer on purchase orders, production timing, delivery and freight
- Track inbound POs from order through ocean transit, customs clearance, co-packing and receipt at the warehouse
- Work with our customs broker and forwarder to keep import paperwork complete, on time and filed appropriately.
Inventory & product data
- Track lot codes and best-by dates to support first-expired, first-out (FEFO) shipping
- Maintain item master data: UPCs, case packs, pallet configurations (Ti/Hi), weights and dimensions, and retailer item setups
Documentation & reporting
- Maintain organized, up-to-date records: POs, BOLs, PODs, ASNs, invoices, supplier certificates (COAs, insurance COIs) and retailer onboarding paperwork
- Write and update SOPs for recurring daily operations processes
- Produce simple weekly reporting on open orders, on-time shipping, fill rate, chargebacks and freight cost
Other
- Arrange sample and small-parcel shipments
- Support special projects and other operations tasks as the business grows
What we're looking for
Required
- 2+ years in supply chain, logistics, order management or operations coordination, ideally in CPG, food or retail wholesale
- Hands-on experience booking freight and working with carriers, 3PLs or warehouses
- Working knowledge of EDI, WMS and ASNs
- Strong Excel / Google Sheets skills (lookups, pivot tables, basic formulas)
- Excellent written communication; comfortable following up persistently and professionally with retailers, vendors and carriers
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, able to manage many open items at once without dropping any
- Reliable availability during Central or Pacific business hours, with flexibility for time-sensitive issues
Nice to have
- Experience with Odoo or another ERP and SPS
- Familiarity with big-box retailer routing guides and compliance programs (e.g. Target, Nordstrom)
- Exposure to imports: ocean freight and customs brokers
- Food or confectionery experience, including lot and expiry tracking
- Experience with Shopify or Faire
- A love of all things candy
