Position Summary

Alta PaintsCoatings is seeking an experienced, results-driven, and customer-focused Operations Branch Manager to lead all aspects of branch operations in Salt Lake City. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing warehouse operations, inventory management, logistics, customer service, safety compliance, facility management, and employee development. The Operations Branch Manager will ensure efficient day-to-day operations while driving continuous improvement, supporting sales growth, maintaining operational excellence, and delivering exceptional service to customers.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong operational, inventory, and team management experience, preferably within manufacturing, industrial distribution, paints and coatings, construction materials, or related industries.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Branch Operations Leadership

Manage all daily branch operations, ensuring efficiency, productivity, and customer satisfaction.

Develop and implement operational processes that support company goals and branch performance.

Monitor branch key performance indicators (KPIs) including inventory accuracy, order fulfillment, on-time delivery, safety performance, and operating costs.

Coordinate activities between sales, customer service, production, transportation, and warehouse functions.

Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and operational standards.

Identify opportunities to improve processes, reduce costs, and increase operational effectiveness.

Support business growth initiatives and contribute to branch profitability.

WarehouseInventory Management

Oversee receiving, stocking, storage, order fulfillment, and shipping activities.

Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure inventory accuracy through cycle counts and physical inventories.

Monitor inventory levels and coordinate replenishment activities.

Ensure proper handling, storage, and rotation of materials and finished goods.

Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies and operational issues.

Oversee ERP and inventory management system utilization to maintain data integrity.

Ensure customer orders are processed accurately and delivered on time.

Team LeadershipEmployee Development

Lead, coach, and develop warehouse, logistics, and branch personnel.

Recruit, hire, train, and onboard team members as needed.

Establish clear performance expectations and hold employees accountable for results.

Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing coaching and feedback.

Foster a positive, collaborative, and safety-focused workplace culture.

Develop employee schedules and staffing plans to meet business demands.

Promote employee engagement and continuous learning opportunities.

Safety, ComplianceEnvironmental Management

Champion a culture of safety throughout all branch operations.

Ensure compliance with OSHA standards, environmental regulations, DOT requirements, and company safety policies.

Conduct regular safety inspections, audits, and training sessions.

Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, implementing corrective actions as necessary.

Ensure proper handling and storage of paints, coatings, chemicals, and hazardous materials.

Maintain required operational, environmental, and safety documentation.

LogisticsTransportation Management

Oversee inbound and outbound transportation activities.

Coordinate delivery schedules and transportation resources to ensure timely customer service.

Monitor vehicle maintenance schedules and regulatory compliance.

Work closely with customers and vendors to resolve service or delivery challenges.

Ensure efficient routing and scheduling of delivery activities.

Manage freight costs and transportation performance metrics.

Facility Management

Maintain a clean, organized, and professional facility environment.

Ensure branch equipment, vehicles, and material handling equipment are properly maintained.

Coordinate facility repairs and improvements as needed.

Manage facility security, maintenance, and operational readiness.

Ensure proper housekeeping standards throughout the facility.

Customer ServiceBusiness Support

Support sales efforts through operational excellence and responsive customer service.

Build strong working relationships with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.

Assist in resolving customer concerns and operational issues promptly.

Support branch revenue growth through efficient execution and exceptional service.

Represent Alta PaintsCoatings professionally within the local business community.

Additional Duties

Support special projects and company initiatives.

Participate in management meetings and strategic planning activities.

Assist other locations and departments as needed.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Business, Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or related field; equivalent experience may be considered.

Minimum 5 years of experience in warehouse, distribution, manufacturing, or operations management.

Minimum 3 years of supervisory or management experience.

Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

Experience managing inventory, logistics, and warehouse operations.

Proficiency with ERP systems, inventory management systems, and Microsoft Office applications.

Knowledge of OSHA regulations and workplace safety practices.

Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in paints, coatings, construction products, industrial distribution, manufacturing, or related industries.

Forklift certification and material handling equipment experience.

Experience with continuous improvement initiatives such as Lean, Six Sigma, or process optimization programs.

Knowledge of DOT regulations and transportation management.

Previous P&L responsibility and budget management experience.

Physical Requirements

Ability to work in both office and warehouse environments.

Frequently walk, stand, bend, and move throughout the facility.

Occasionally lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

Ability to safely observe and monitor warehouse and operational activities.

Ability to work in varying warehouse temperatures, including seasonal heat and cold.

Ability to operate company vehicles and material handling equipment when necessary.
