What they need

At Chester Commodities, we believe great businesses are built by great people.

We’re a privately owned Australian commodity trading business specialising in grain, meals and niche food commodities across domestic and international markets. Our success is built on strong relationships, commercial thinking, accountability and consistently delivering outstanding outcomes for our customers.

As we continue to grow, we’re looking for an organised, proactive and commercially minded Operations Coordinator- Commodity Trading & Logistics to become an integral part of our team. This is far more than a logistics role.

Working alongside our experienced traders and senior leaders, you’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring commodity contracts are successfully executed from purchase through to delivery while helping keep our operations running smoothly and efficiently. If you’re someone who enjoys solving problems, building relationships, improving processes and making things happen efficiently, we’d love to hear from you.

About the Role

As Operations Coordinator, you’ll work closely with our trading and management team to coordinate the day-to-day execution of commodity contracts across domestic and export markets.

You’ll be responsible for planning freight movements, coordinating logistics, managing operational documentation and maintaining strong relationships with customers, transport providers, warehouses and other key stakeholders.

No two days will be the same. This is a varied, fast-paced role where you’ll have the opportunity to think on your feet, solve problems and make a genuine contribution to the success of the business.

What You’ll Be Doing

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinating commodity contracts from purchase through to successful delivery.

  • Planning and coordinating domestic freight and logistics movements.

  • Liaising with customers, growers, transport providers, warehouses and service providers.

  • Managing contract administration and operational documentation.

  • Monitoring freight movements, delivery schedules and inventory positions.

  • Supporting the successful execution of domestic and export trading programs.

  • Identifying and resolving operational and logistics issues as they arise.

  • Maintaining accurate records and ensuring information is up to date across internal systems.

  • Working closely with traders to ensure efficient and seamless contract execution.

  • Contributing ideas to improve systems, processes and operational efficiency.

About You

You may already have experience in commodity trading, agribusiness, grain logistics, transport, supply chain, export operations or another fast-paced operational environment. Equally, if you’ve built a strong career coordinating complex operations in another industry and are looking for an exciting new challenge, we’d love to hear from you.

You’ll ideally bring:

  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Outstanding communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Confidence using Microsoft Excel and business systems.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach.
  • Sound judgement and commercial awareness.
  • A willingness to learn and continually improve.

Most importantly, you’re someone who enjoys taking ownership, thrives in a busy environment and genuinely enjoys working as part of a collaborative team.

Why Join Chester Commodities?

Joining our team, you’ll be joining more than just a business. At Chester, everyone works together, shares knowledge and supports one another to achieve great outcomes for our customers and the business. This is a workplace where you’ll be trusted with real responsibility, encouraged to contribute ideas and supported to build a rewarding long-term career.

We offer:

  • A competitive salary package reflective of your skills and experience.

  • Performance-based bonuses that recognise and reward individual and business success.

  • A supportive, close-knit team where people genuinely enjoy working together.

  • Genuine responsibility and autonomy from day one.

  • Direct mentoring and support from experienced traders and senior leaders.

  • Extensive on-the-job learning across commodity trading, logistics and commercial operations.

  • Ongoing professional development through industry training, conferences and relevant courses.

  • Exposure to Australian and international agricultural markets.

  • Opportunities for domestic and occasional international travel.

  • Flexible working arrangements where appropriate.

  • Long-term career development within a growing Australian business.

If you want to build a career where you’ll continue to learn, be challenged and make a genuine contribution, we’d love to hear from you.
