What they need
The opportunity
Lazenby Group is a UK engineering business designing and manufacturing kiosks for OEM customers, alongside precision sheet metal fabrication for sectors including hospitality and various other supply chains. We are growing, and we are looking for a capable, curious person to work alongside our Operations Manager and help shape how the business runs.
This is a genuinely broad role. One day you could be on the shop floor resolving a production issue; the next day be building a KPI dashboard, planning a shipment or running a LEAN improvement project. You will see how the whole business works and play a real part in its strategy.
You do not need to have done all of this before. Full training will be given to the right person — what matters most is attitude, organisation and a willingness to learn. There is a good opportunity for career progession for the right candidate.
What you'll do
You will support the Operations Manager and others across various areas of the business, with the balance shifting depending upon the need.
Production support
- Help plan and schedule work across kiosk build and fabrication, keeping jobs on track for delivery dates
- Liaise with the Key Account Manager to help keep the production schedule on track and provide information for customer updates
- Help with chasing materials and bought-in parts with suppliers and raise purchase orders where required
- Follow up on non-conformances and help close out corrective actions
KPIs and reporting
- Maintain and develop KPI reporting (on-time delivery, labour hours, productivity, quality, cost, etc)
- Compile the weekly operations report from time recording and production data
- Spot trends in the numbers and flag issues early
Strategy development and implementation
- Help turn the company's strategic plan into actions, owners and deadlines
- Track progress on improvement projects and report on status
- Prepare information and presentations for management meetings
LEAN and continuous improvement
- Take part in and lead LEAN activities such as 5S, value stream mapping and waste reduction
- Help write and update standard operating procedures and work instructions
- Support quality management system activities, including audits and document control
Shipping and logistics
- Plan and book outbound shipments, liaising with hauliers and customers on delivery slots
- Prepare shipping documentation, delivery notes and packing lists
- Keep customers informed of dispatch dates and resolve delivery issues
General operations
- Deputise for the Operations Manager on day-to-day matters as your experience grows
- Support health and safety compliance on site
- Take on ad hoc projects as the business develops
How success is measured
After training, the role will be judged on these measures, reviewed with the Operations Manager.
