VACANCY: OPERATIONS FOREMAN

Allens Meshco is seeking a highly motivated, hands-on, and results-driven Operations Foreman to oversee daily wire manufacturing operations and lead production teams in achieving safety, quality, and productivity objectives.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that production targets are met, quality standards are maintained, equipment downtime is minimised, and all employees work in a safe and efficient manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise all wire production activities during the shift.
• Conduct pre-shift inspections to assess machine status, product flow, raw material availability, and factory readiness.
• Facilitate daily production and safety meetings to communicate operational priorities, production targets, staffing allocations, and housekeeping standards.
• Monitor employee attendance, punctuality, productivity, and workplace discipline.
• Ensure compliance with all company safety rules, PPE requirements, and operating procedures.
• Monitor machine performance and production output to achieve daily production targets.
• Ensure the correct materials, specifications, and operating parameters are used throughout the production process.
• Drive quality compliance by ensuring products meet customer and company specifications.
• Identify production bottlenecks and implement corrective actions to improve efficiency and output.
• Coordinate maintenance activities and follow up on machine breakdowns to minimise downtime.
• Monitor production progress throughout the shift and make adjustments where necessary to meet operational requirements.
• Enforce housekeeping standards and maintain an organised, safe, and efficient work environment.
• Manage scrap, waste reduction, and non-conforming product processes.
• Ensure accurate completion of production schedules, reports, shift handovers, and operational records.
• Attend daily production meetings and provide feedback on production performance, staffing, quality, maintenance, and safety issues.
• Ensure effective communication and smooth handover between shifts.
• Drive a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, quality, and teamwork.

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 (Matric).
• Minimum 5 years' manufacturing experience.
• Minimum 3 years' experience in a supervisory or foreman role.
• Experience in wire drawing, wire products, steel manufacturing, mesh, or a related production environment will be advantageous.
• Strong leadership, communication, and people management skills.
• Sound understanding of production planning, quality systems, and operational performance management.
• Good problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Computer literacy with experience in production reporting.
• Strong commitment to workplace safety and operational excellence.
