Operations Geoscientist

EOG's Columbus, Ohio Division, is seeking a long-term contractor for our Ohio Geology team.

The ideal candidate will provide geological guidance and wellbore steering for horizontal wells. This position requires working with geologists, geophysicists, directional drillers, and drilling engineers to ensure the correct wellbore path is obtained. This function covers both geology and engineering, where knowledge of formation geology, directional drilling operations, and proposed completion practices coexist. The candidate will be called upon to provide analysis for project decision-making based on sound technical review.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Geophysics, or Engineering
• 2 years of geosteering experience on horizontal wells
• Proficiency in geosteering and geological interpretation software; StarSteer and Petra preferred
• Strong understanding of MWD/LWD data
• Experience interpreting structure, dip changes for real-time adjustments of drilling targets and ability to monitor multiple wells at once
• Experience planning wells using structure grids and seismic data
• Clear communication with the Directional Drillers, Company Man, and the office teams, including daily updates
• Availability to work 12-hour shifts and nights/weekends, and holidays
• Willing to relocate to Columbus, OH

Preferred:

• Experience in unconventional plays, Appalachian Basin or Utica a plus
• Experience building or updating structure maps and geological prognoses from offset well data
• Familiarity with Excel, or similar tools for data analysis
• 1 year of mudlogging experience

Position will be filled at a level commensurate with experience.
