Operations Manager

IFS Growth is a forestry management, investment and consultancy business with a strong reputation for safe, sustainable and high‑quality operations. We’re looking for an Operations Manager to lead our business based in Nelson, across the top of the South.

In this role, you’ll oversee day‑to‑day operations including harvesting, earthworks, planning and contractor management. You’ll work closely with the Regional Development Manager to deliver safe, efficient and commercially successful outcomes across the region.

This is role within a close-knit team that sees you in the office at Ruby Bay, and out into our forests, hands-on managing and, at times, supervising various forestry and harvesting operations. You’ll also assist with new work developments across the region.

What you’ll lead

• Planning, coordination and delivery of all forestry operations
• Annual operational plans, budgets and performance targets
• Harvesting, transport logistics, inventory and export shipping
• Continuous improvement in safety, productivity and cost efficiency
• Leadership with company H, S & E performance including FSC experience.
• Roading infrastructure, equipment maintenance and capital planning
• Monitoring of production, quality, environmental and financial results
• Leadership and performance of contractor teams
• Long‑term forest management and sustainability objectives

• Strong communication and relationship management skills
• Proven project management and operational planning experience
• Excellent organisational and analytical capability
• Solid health and safety leadership within the forestry sector
• Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities
• Collaborative approach with colleagues across the country
• Experience with preparing resource consent applications, FEMP and council notification
• Experience with H&S and Environmental policy preparation

Previous experience in senior forestry roles is essential
