What they need
Starzi Brothers Excavation & Concrete Contractors is seeking an experienced, highly organized Operations Manager to oversee day-to-day field operations across our excavation, concrete, site work, and civil construction projects.
This is a hands-on management position for someone who understands construction, can effectively manage multiple crews and projects, and knows how to keep jobs moving safely, efficiently, and profitably.
The Operations Manager will serve as the primary link between ownership, project management, field crews, customers, vendors, and subcontractors.
Responsibilities
- Manage daily operations across multiple active construction projects
- Coordinate and oversee excavation and concrete crews
- Develop daily and weekly crew schedules
- Assign manpower, equipment, trucks, and materials to projects
- Communicate daily expectations and production goals to foremen and crew leaders
- Visit jobsites regularly to monitor progress, workmanship, safety, and productivity
- Ensure projects remain on schedule and within the planned scope
- Coordinate concrete pours, material deliveries, trucking, equipment, subcontractors, and vendors
- Review project plans, specifications, scopes of work, and schedules before mobilization
- Identify potential scheduling, manpower, material, or equipment issues before they impact production
- Maintain strong communication with customers regarding scheduling and project progress
- Work directly with ownership to establish project priorities and operational plans
- Hold field personnel accountable for attendance, productivity, workmanship, equipment care, and company standards
- Assist with hiring, onboarding, training, and development of field employees
- Help resolve field issues quickly and professionally
- Track project progress and report production updates to ownership
- Ensure proper documentation of jobsite conditions, completed work, delays, and change-order items
- Maintain compliance with company safety policies and applicable OSHA requirements
- Help improve operational systems, crew efficiency, and overall company productivity
Qualifications
- Previous construction operations, superintendent, project management, or field management experience required
- Experience in excavation, concrete, site development, utilities, grading, drainage, or civil construction strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of construction sequencing and field operations
- Ability to manage multiple crews and projects simultaneously
- Strong leadership and personnel-management skills
- Excellent organization, scheduling, and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to read construction plans and understand project scopes
- Comfortable holding employees accountable and making decisions in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication skills with customers, employees, vendors, and subcontractors
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Comfortable using smartphones, email, scheduling software, and basic construction management technology
Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who takes ownership of operations.
The right person does not need to be constantly reminded what needs to happen next. You should be able to look ahead at the schedule, identify potential problems, coordinate the necessary resources, and make sure our crews have what they need to perform.
You should be comfortable spending time both in the field and managing operations, communicating directly with foremen and employees while keeping ownership informed of project status.
This position requires someone who is organized, decisive, dependable, and capable of maintaining high standards while managing the realities of a fast-moving construction company.
What We Offer
- Full-time position
- Competitive compensation based on experience
- Opportunity for advancement as the company grows
- Significant responsibility and decision-making authority
- Direct communication with company ownership
- Opportunity to help build and improve operational systems
- Long-term opportunity for the right individual
Schedule
Full-Time – Monday through Friday
Additional availability may occasionally be required depending on concrete pours, project schedules, weather, or other operational needs.
