Operations Manager

We are looking for an experienced and hands-on Operations Manager to take overall responsibility for the day-to-day operations of our FMCG depot.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and smooth running of Receiving, Dispatch, Warehousing and general Depot Operations, while maintaining high standards of productivity, stock accuracy, customer service, safety and housekeeping.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

· Oversee the day-to-day operations of the depot.

· Manage and coordinate Receiving and Dispatch operations.

· Ensure all incoming stock is received, checked, recorded and stored correctly.

· Ensure outgoing orders are accurately picked, checked, packed and dispatched on time.

· Monitor and maintain stock accuracy and stock control.

· Manage the movement and flow of stock throughout the warehouse.

· Supervise warehouse, receiving, dispatch and general operational staff.

· Allocate duties and ensure employees are productive and performing according to required standards.

· Monitor daily operational targets and ensure deadlines are met.

· Investigate and resolve discrepancies relating to stock, receiving, picking and dispatch.

· Ensure proper documentation and procedures are followed for all stock movements.

· Implement and maintain effective warehouse and operational procedures.

· Monitor loading and offloading activities.

· Ensure proper housekeeping and organisation of the depot.

· Ensure compliance with health and safety requirements.

· Monitor equipment and report maintenance requirements.

· Identify operational inefficiencies and implement improvements.

· Work closely with Management, Sales, Procurement, Finance and other departments.

· Manage operational costs and minimise wastage, damages and losses.

· Handle operational queries and resolve problems quickly and effectively.

· Ensure staff adhere to company policies, procedures and disciplinary standards.

· Provide regular operational reports and feedback to senior management.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

· Matric / Grade 12 required.

· Minimum 3–5 years' experience in an Operations/Warehouse Management role.

· FMCG experience is essential.

· Experience managing Receiving and Dispatch operations.

· Strong knowledge of warehouse and stock control processes.

· Experience managing and supervising a team.

· Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.

· Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced FMCG environment.

· Good computer skills and experience with warehouse/ERP systems.

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

· Strong leadership and people-management abilities.

· Must be hands-on, proactive and results-driven.
