What they need

About Us

The Remarkables Group Ltd is the parent company of a group of trading entities, including House of Hygiene (commercial cleaning) and Southern Districts Security (security services), among other complementary businesses. Each entity operates its own contracts and client base, with the group providing shared leadership, systems, and support.

We're an expanding company, and we expect our structure, trading arms, and leadership needs to keep evolving as we grow.

The Role

We're looking for an Operations Manager to oversee day-to-day operations across our commercial cleaning and security service divisions. You'll be responsible for driving service excellence, profitability, and client satisfaction across multiple contracts and sites.

Reporting to the General Manager, you'll play a key role in operational delivery, team leadership, and business growth — with genuine opportunity to develop within the group as we expand into new trading arms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct and oversee operational activities across our commercial cleaning and security divisions to ensure service excellence, profitability, and client satisfaction

  • Develop and implement operational plans, policies, and business improvement initiatives to support growth and performance

  • Contribute to strategic planning and identify opportunities for expansion, new service offerings, and operational efficiencies

  • Manage delivery across multiple client contracts, ensuring obligations, service standards, and KPIs are met

  • Lead, mentor, and support supervisors and operational staff, including workforce planning, recruitment, training, and performance management

  • Set operational objectives and monitor performance against financial, service delivery, and quality targets

  • Manage operational budgets, costs, resources, and profitability across the business

  • Build and maintain strong client and stakeholder relationships, overseeing resolution of operational issues and escalations

  • Coordinate staffing, scheduling, equipment, and other resources to support efficient service delivery

  • Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation, industry standards, quality assurance requirements, and company policy

  • Monitor and analyse operational performance and prepare reports and recommendations for senior leadership

  • Identify and implement initiatives that improve operational efficiency, customer outcomes, and business performance

What We're Looking For

Essential

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in the commercial cleaning industry

  • Proven experience coordinating people, programmes, projects or service delivery activities, with the ability to manage competing priorities, maintain organisational systems and ensure tasks are completed efficiently.

  • Strong people leadership skills, with experience managing supervisors and frontline teams

  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple contracts simultaneously

  • Sound understanding of health & safety and compliance requirements

  • Strong commercial acumen, including budget and P&L management experience

  • Excellent communication skills, comfortable liaising with clients, staff, and senior leadership

  • Full, clean New Zealand driver's licence

Desirable

  • Certificate of Approval (COA) for security preferred, but not essential — willingness to obtain one will be considered

  • Current First Aid Certificate

  • Experience with CRM, scheduling, or field service management software

What We Offer

  • $72,000 – $79,000 per annum

  • Minimum 30 hours per week

  • Company vehicle

  • KiwiSaver enrolment

  • Genuine opportunity to grow and move within The Remarkables Group as we expand into new trading arms

  • A role that is likely to develop in scope and responsibility over time

The Remarkables Group Ltd is an equal opportunity employer.
