What they need

Head of Business Operations

E-Commerce + Fashion + DTC Brand | Doral, FL | Full-Time | In-Person

About the Role

I'm Diego, Founder and Brand Director of Gaui, a Miami-based fashion and direct-to-consumer brand. I'm looking for an experienced Head of Business Operations to work closely with me as we continue building and growing the company.

While my focus remains on the creative direction, vision, and development of the brand, I'm looking for someone who can complement my strengths by bringing structure, financial discipline, and data-driven decision-making to the business.

The ideal candidate has at least 7 years of experience, including direct experience within a DTC fashion, beauty, or consumer brand. Experience across both established organizations and smaller, growing companies is especially valuable.

We're currently a team of 10, so this is a hands-on role, not a traditional executive position. I'm looking for someone resourceful, independent, and comfortable rolling up their sleeves. Someone who can take ownership of financial oversight, team management, operational planning, and daily execution without relying on layers of management.

Above all, I'm looking for a true operational counterpart. Someone who balances my creative drive with sound business judgment, takes initiative, follows through, and genuinely enjoys the process of building a brand.

Responsibilities

Business Operations + Management

  • Oversee daily business operations across finance, inventory, logistics, fulfillment, customer service, and internal workflows.
  • Work directly with the Founder to establish priorities, execute business objectives, and support sustainable growth.
  • Develop and maintain operational systems, procedures, and reporting structures that improve efficiency and accountability.
  • Manage company resources, expenses, vendors, service providers, and operational relationships.
  • Identify inefficiencies, resolve operational challenges, and make independent decisions that support profitability.
  • Coordinate communication and execution across marketing, e-commerce, product, finance, and fulfillment teams.

Financial Oversight + Budget Management

  • Take ownership of company budgets, operating expenses, cash flow visibility, and financial performance monitoring.
  • Maintain oversight of P&L, financial commitments, recurring expenses, vendor invoices, and payment schedules.
  • Develop financial reporting that provides clear visibility into revenue, profitability, expenses, and cash requirements.
  • Support financial forecasting, cash flow planning, and short-term and long-term business planning.
  • Analyze performance, identify opportunities to reduce costs, and ensure spending remains aligned with company priorities.
  • Establish financial controls, purchasing approvals, and accountability across departments.

Team Management + Human Resources

  • Lead and coordinate a small, cross-functional team, establishing clear responsibilities, priorities, and performance expectations.
  • Manage employee schedules, attendance, time-off requests, and internal calendars.
  • Oversee payroll coordination, timesheets, approvals, and employee-related administrative processes.
  • Support recruiting, onboarding, training, performance evaluations, and employee transitions.
  • Conduct team meetings and individual check-ins, following up on deadlines, deliverables, and commitments.
  • Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, collaboration, and operational discipline.

Fulfillment + Inventory + Logistics

  • Oversee warehouse operations, inventory accuracy, order fulfillment, returns, and shipping performance.
  • Coordinate incoming shipments, receiving schedules, stock movements, and logistics partners.
  • Monitor fulfillment costs, order accuracy, processing timelines, and warehouse productivity.
  • Establish operational KPIs and implement improvements that reduce errors, delays, and unnecessary expenses.
  • Ensure warehouse organization, safety, and operational standards are maintained.

Planning + Calendars + Internal Communication

  • Own the company's master operational calendar, including meetings, product launches, business priorities, and key deadlines.
  • Coordinate departmental schedules and operational readiness for launches, campaigns, and company initiatives.
  • Organize and lead weekly operational meetings, prepare agendas, document decisions, and follow up on action items.
  • Maintain clear visibility into ongoing projects, departmental responsibilities, and upcoming commitments.
  • Anticipate potential delays, address operational bottlenecks, and ensure decisions translate into execution.

Qualifications + Experience

  • 7+ years of experience in business operations, operations management, general management, or a related leadership role.
  • Direct experience within a DTC brand is required, preferably in fashion, apparel, beauty, or consumer products.
  • Experience working within both established organizations and smaller, resource-conscious businesses is highly valued.
  • Strong financial understanding, including ownership of P&L management, cash flow, budgeting, expense control, and financial reporting.
  • Proven experience managing cross-functional teams and overseeing daily business operations.
  • Working knowledge of inventory management, fulfillment, logistics, and e-commerce operations.
  • Experience implementing operational systems, performance reporting, and process improvements.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with spreadsheets, financial reporting tools, and e-commerce platforms. Shopify experience is highly valued.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and make sound decisions without constant direction.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience.

What We're Looking For

Strong business judgment, financial discipline, and the ability to lead people are essential.

I'm particularly interested in someone who understands the realities of operating a growing fashion brand with a lean team. Someone who can think strategically while remaining involved in the day-to-day details, and who finds satisfaction in solving problems, improving processes, and bringing people and numbers together.

This position requires more than delegation or oversight. You should be equally comfortable developing a plan and personally executing it. Resourcefulness, initiative, consistency, and a genuine sense of ownership are qualities I value deeply.

Schedule + Work Environment

This is a full-time, hands-on position based in Doral, FL, with an in-office schedule Monday through Friday. We're currently testing hybrid Mondays.

As my right hand in running the business, I'm looking for someone who understands that this level of responsibility can extend beyond traditional office hours, with flexibility for occasional Saturdays and availability as business needs arise.

How to Apply

If you've taken the time to read through this job description, feel aligned with the expectations, and genuinely see yourself taking on this challenge alongside me, I'd love to hear from you. Please email us directly at [email protected] with your resume and a brief personal introduction.

I believe a resume doesn't always tell the whole story, and I'd love to learn more about you, your experience, and what draws you to this opportunity.

I'm especially interested in understanding the businesses you've helped operate, the size of the teams you've managed, your involvement in financial decision-making, and the improvements you've personally contributed to.

Thank you for considering being part of what we're building at Gaui.
