Operations Manager

Salary: £60,000 + bonus scheme

Holiday: 22 days + bank holidays

Location: Hornsey, North London (N8) On‑site, 5 days per week

Reports to: Ops Director

Purpose of the Role

Yahire expects to expand up to 3x its current size over the next few years and are seeking to scale its operational management team and skillsets. We require senior operational leadership to ensure alignment between the Directors and the department managers. This role provides structure, drives standards, and ensures strategic execution across Transport and Warehouse operations. It exists to deliver the operational excellence required for the next stage of the company’s expansion and to take ownership of the standards and projects that have historically been difficult to achieve.

What the first 6 months look like

The Operations Director will be heavily involved in your training and development during this initial period. Key priorities during this timeframe include:

  • Warehousing Focus: Building storage and stock quality efficiencies while developing a strong core operational team.
  • Q1 Strategic Planning: Utilizing Q1 (a quieter period for the business) to map out and plan the 12 months ahead.
  • Process Review: Conducting a complete review of internal processes, with a specific focus on the Goods In and Stock Quality sub-departments.
  • Future Growth: Setting the foundation for post-6-month initiatives, including scaling the business across multi-site operations and fleet expansion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Full accountability for the performance of Transport and Warehouse operations
  • Deliver OTIF & Labour efficiency KPI targets
  • Lead and develop department managers who run day‑to‑day operations
  • Ensure forward planning in labour, fleet, and resource allocation
  • Own warehouse flow, process discipline, tidiness, and quality standards
  • Drive training, performance management, and behavioural expectations across the teams
  • Implement structure, systems, and strategic initiatives set by the Ops Director
  • Maintain a high‑quality, safe, and professional operational environment

The Ideal Candidate

  • Logistics & Warehousing Focus: Has built (or is committed to building) a career in warehousing and logistics, supported by a strong track record of managing large teams in fast-paced environments.
  • Decisive & Structured: Comfortable navigating ambiguous information, prioritising workload effectively, and delegating efficiently.
  • Health & Safety Conscious: Experienced in Health & Safety management, conducting Risk Assessments (RAs), and delivering training.
  • Proactive & Detail-Oriented: A proactive manager who anticipates issues rather than reacting to them, maintaining high standards and completing task lists efficiently.
  • Problem Solver: Demonstrates out-of-the-box thinking to solve complex operational challenges quickly and cost-effectively.

Experience & Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years management experience
  • Proven background in supply chain, transport, events or warehouse management
  • Ability to work 5 days per week on‑site
  • Be able to receive out of hours contact in emergencies
  • Full UK driving licence

Desirable

  • Transport Manager CPC
  • Experienced in designing warehouse layouts and process flows
  • Qualifications in Supply Chain management
  • HR or people‑management experience
  • Events or venue operations experience
  • Multi‑site operational experience
  • IOSH or other H&S qualifications

Don’t tick every single box? Apply anyway!

At Yahire, we recognise that great operational leaders come from diverse backgrounds and experience levels. If you are passionate about scaling operations, driving high standards, and believe you have the core skills to succeed in this role, we would love to hear from you.
