Operations Manager - Commercial & Financial

Boomerang Hills is seeking an experienced and commercially minded Operations Manager to join our leadership team and play a key role in the day-to-day performance of the business.

Reporting directly to the General Manager, this is a hands-on, broad-ranging role working across each of our business units to ensure operations run smoothly, financial performance is understood and managed, and the wider team has the systems, information and support required to perform effectively.

This position would suit an experienced Operations Manager, Commercial Manager or financially experienced business professional who enjoys being across the detail while also seeing the bigger picture.

The Role

Working closely with the General Manager and the leaders of each business unit, you will provide operational and financial oversight across the organisation.

Your responsibilities will include:

·         Working day to day with each business unit to ensure the smooth running of operations

·         Monitoring business performance, budgets, cash flow, costs and financial reporting

·         Assisting business unit managers with forecasting, budgeting and commercial decision-making

·         Identifying operational issues, inefficiencies and opportunities for improvement

·         Establishing and maintaining effective business systems, procedures and reporting

·         Reviewing financial and operational KPIs and providing clear reporting to the General Manager

·         Coordinating with accountants, suppliers, contractors, advisers and other external stakeholders

·         Assisting with procurement, contracts, expenditure approvals and cost management

·         Supporting payroll, accounts payable and receivable, and general financial administration where required

·         Ensuring deadlines, compliance obligations and key business priorities are being managed

·         Helping establish accountability across the various business units

·         Supporting the General Manager with special projects, business planning and strategic initiatives

·         Acting as a central point of coordination between management and the individual businesses

About You

We are looking for someone who is organised, financially capable, commercially astute and comfortable working across a diverse range of responsibilities.

Ideally, you will have:

·         Previous experience in an Operations Manager, Commercial Manager, Finance Manager, Business Manager or similar role

·         Strong financial literacy and experience with management accounts, budgeting and cash-flow management

·         An ability to understand a business through both its financial results and its day-to-day operations

·         Strong organisational and problem-solving skills

·         The confidence to work directly with business managers and hold people accountable for agreed outcomes

·         Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

·         Strong attention to detail without losing sight of broader commercial priorities

·         The ability to manage multiple priorities across different business units

·         A proactive, practical and solutions-focused approach

·         Strong systems and technology skills, including experience with accounting and business management platforms

Accounting qualifications or formal financial training would be highly regarded, although practical commercial and operational experience will be equally important.

Remuneration

$100,000 to $150,000 per year. Competitive remuneration will be offered based on your experience and capacity.
