What they need
The Autism Service is a psychology-led diagnostic service providing expert ASD and ADHD assessments for children, young people and adults. As NHS waiting lists reach unprecedented highs across the UK, we offer a timely, reliable alternative for those who wish to be seen quickly. Operating from over 30 locations across England and Wales, we proudly serve both self-funded and NHS-referred patients, maintaining an exceptional reputation for delivering the highest standard of clinical assessments.
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced, compassionate and highly organised Operations Manager to join our growing autism and ADHD service.
The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operational delivery of the service, ensuring that patients receive a safe, efficient, high-quality and person-centred experience. You will work closely with clinical, administrative and leadership teams to ensure the service operates effectively and continues to meet the needs of children, young people and/or adults accessing autism and ADHD assessment and support.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who combines strong operational leadership with a genuine commitment to neurodiversity-affirming care.
Key Responsibilities
● Oversee the day-to-day operations of the autism and ADHD services.
● Lead, support and develop administrative and operational teams.
● Coordinate service capacity, staffing, clinic schedules and patient pathways.
● Monitor performance against agreed targets, KPIs and service standards.
● Ensure assessments and appointments are coordinated efficiently and patients are kept informed throughout their journey.
● Work closely with clinicians to identify and resolve operational issues.
● Monitor waiting lists, referrals, cancellations and patient flow.
● Ensure appropriate processes are in place for safeguarding, complaints, incidents and risk management.
● Support compliance with relevant regulatory, contractual and organisational requirements.
● Maintain accurate records and contribute to reporting, audits and service improvement.
● Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, patient experience and quality of service.
● Support recruitment, induction, supervision and performance management of operational staff.
● Develop positive relationships with patients, families, professionals, commissioners and external stakeholders.
● Promote an inclusive, respectful and neurodiversity-affirming culture across the service.
About You
We are looking for someone who has:
● Previous experience in an operations, service management or senior administrative role, ideally within healthcare, mental health, neurodevelopmental services or a related environment.
● Strong organisational and people-management skills.
● Experience managing teams and coordinating complex workloads.
● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
● Experience monitoring KPIs, performance data and service delivery.
● A strong understanding of confidentiality, safeguarding, information governance and quality standards.
● The ability to manage competing priorities and remain calm in a busy environment.
● Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
● A commitment to equality, diversity, inclusion and neurodiversity-affirming practice.
Experience of working within autism and ADHD assessment pathways would be highly desirable.
What We Offer
● A rewarding role within a growing neurodevelopmental service.
● Supportive and collaborative working environment.
● Opportunities for professional development and progression.
● The opportunity to make a meaningful difference to the experience of autistic and ADHD patients and their families.
If you are an experienced operations professional who is passionate about delivering high-quality, accessible and compassionate autism and ADHD services, we would love to hear from you.
