OPERATIONS MANAGER – EXECUTION

Sargeant Transport is looking for an experienced transport leader who can build a strong team, create accountability and drive operational performance.

Taking ownership of our daily operations, you’ll bring clear direction to our Operations, Admin and Driver teams, ensuring our people are supported, our fleet is productive and our customers receive reliable service.

Your leadership will make the difference. You’ll be visible, approachable and decisive, with the confidence to have direct conversations, address underperformance and recognise a job well done.

What you’ll take ownership of

• People and culture: Lead, coach and develop your teams, setting clear expectations and building a culture of respect, accountability and continuous improvement.
• Daily execution: Keep the daily transport plan on track, respond to disruptions and ensure teams understand their priorities.
• Operational performance: Drive efficiency and fleet utilisation, reduce downtime and manage the overall cost to serve.
• Driver standards: Manage driver performance, compliance and development, with safety central to every decision.
• Customer service: Take ownership of escalations, resolve issues promptly and follow through on commitments.
• Continuous improvement: Identify recurring problems, implement practical changes and ensure improvements stick.

What you’ll bring

• Proven experience leading teams in transport or logistics, with examples of improving both team performance and operational results.
• The ability to earn trust, motivate people and hold them accountable.
• Confidence managing difficult conversations and following through on agreed actions.
• Strong operational judgement and a calm, decisive approach under pressure.
• Commercial awareness and an understanding of how daily decisions affect service, productivity and cost.
• Clear communication and the ability to bring people together around shared goals.
