Alders Transport Deutschland (ATD) is part of the Altrea Logistics Group , a Belgian transport and logistics group with operations in Belgium, Germany and Hungary.

From Dortmund, ATD carries out domestic and international transport with a fleet of approximately 40 to 50 trucks. Around 90% of the fleet is used for curtain-sided transport and 10% for bulk transport. ATD combines the direct communication of a local operation with the expertise and support of an international group.

The role

You lead ATD’s day-to-day operations in Dortmund. You manage the local team, support the drivers and ensure that transport activities run safely, efficiently and in compliance with applicable regulations. You take ownership of operational issues and work with colleagues in Dortmund and Pelt to resolve them.

Your responsibilities

• You lead and support the local team of two dispatchers and one administrative colleague, setting priorities and following up on their work.
• You oversee daily operations, address issues as they arise and ensure continuity when a team member is absent.
• You act as the first point of contact for drivers and provide clear direction on operational matters.
• You support the recruitment, onboarding, training and ongoing development of drivers.
• You monitor operational performance, identify areas for improvement and put practical solutions in place.
• You ensure that Transics, the Qargo app (TMS) and other operational systems are used correctly.
• You monitor compliance with German and European transport regulations, including driving and rest times, the proper use of tachographs, transport permits and driver documentation.
• You regularly check the condition, cleanliness and roadworthiness of trucks and trailers.
• You coordinate maintenance, repairs, inspections, damage cases and safety measures.
• You ensure that the site, buildings and facilities are safe, orderly and well maintained.
• You work closely with the head office in Pelt, Belgium, particularly with the transport planning team, the mobility department (fleet management and driver training), and the workshop.

Your profile

• You have experience leading people in transport operations, driver management and/or fleet management.
• You understand how to organise a busy transport operation, set priorities and make decisions.
• You have a good knowledge of German and European transport regulations.
• You have technical insight and take a practical, independent and solution-focused approach.
• You communicate clearly, give constructive feedback and address issues when needed.
• You speak fluent German and have a good working knowledge of English.
