The Opportunity

Solutions Driven is working with a growing business in the construction testing and infrastructure sector to recruit an experienced Operations Manager for its Bristol site.

This is an excellent opportunity for a confident operational leader to take ownership of day-to-day operations, develop a team and drive improvements in performance, efficiency and accountability.

You'll play a key role in strengthening operational processes, supporting ongoing cultural improvements and ensuring the team consistently delivers against agreed targets and service standards.

We're looking for someone who combines strong people-management skills with a practical, hands-on approach to operational leadership. You'll be comfortable setting expectations, addressing underperformance and bringing people together to achieve shared goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day operations across the Bristol site, ensuring activities run efficiently and safely.
• Lead, manage and develop the operational team, including the Operations Supervisor.
• Establish consistent working practices, clear expectations and individual accountability.
• Monitor KPIs, productivity and operational performance to ensure targets are achieved.
• Oversee resource planning, staffing, scheduling and equipment requirements.
• Support budget management, cost control and operational reporting.
• Maintain service quality and manage client expectations.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety requirements and relevant quality standards.
• Support recruitment, employee development and performance management.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, efficiency and operational performance.
• Support ongoing cultural improvements and encourage a positive, accountable team environment.

About You

You'll be an experienced operations or site manager with a strong track record of leading people, improving performance and managing day-to-day operational challenges.

Relevant sector experience is required. We're particularly interested in candidates with experience in sectors such as:

• Construction materials testing and testing laboratories.
• Civil engineering and geotechnical engineering.
• Construction and infrastructure services.
• Environmental testing and monitoring.
• Engineering testing, inspection and technical services.
• Other related technical or laboratory-based operational environments.

You don't necessarily need direct materials testing experience, but you'll need a background in a relevant sector where you've managed operational teams, resources, performance and service delivery.

You'll also bring:

• Approximately five years of relevant management experience.
• Strong people-management and supervisory skills.
• Experience managing KPIs, productivity and operational targets.
• Confidence addressing underperformance and maintaining accountability.
• Excellent organisational, planning and communication skills.
• Financial and commercial awareness, including budget and cost control.
• Experience improving processes and implementing more effective working practices.
• The ability to lead change, engage teams and build strong working relationships.
• A client-focused approach and a commitment to maintaining high service standards.
