Operations Manager - Previous Experience needed

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Fleet & Branch Manager to take responsibility for the day-to-day operation of our vehicle hire branch and the management of our growing fleet.

This is a hands-on management role, combining branch operations, fleet management, customer service, team leadership and commercial performance. You will play a key role in ensuring vehicles are available, well maintained, legally compliant and ready for customers, while delivering a high standard of service and operational efficiency.

Our key goal is to streamline the business with processes and KPI’s for the team members to reach and maintain

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the day-to-day running of the vehicle hire branch.
• Oversee the availability, condition and utilisation of the vehicle fleet.
• Coordinate vehicle collections, deliveries, returns, inspections, cleaning and preparation.
• Ensure vehicles are maintained, serviced, MOT'd and kept roadworthy and compliant.
• Monitor fleet movements, vehicle downtime and maintenance requirements.
• Manage vehicle damage, repairs, accident reporting and insurance processes.
• Lead, motivate and develop branch and fleet staff.
• Allocate work effectively and ensure operational deadlines are met.
• Deliver excellent customer service throughout the rental journey.
• Handle customer queries, complaints and operational issues professionally.
• Apply and manage branch performance, fleet utilisation and key operational KPIs.
• Work closely with suppliers, garages, recovery companies and other external partners.
• Maintain accurate fleet and rental records and ensure company procedures are followed.
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce costs and maximise fleet utilisation.
• Ensure all health & safety, legal and company compliance requirements are met.
• Reviewing P&L with accounts team

About You

We are looking for someone who is organised, commercially aware and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment who is able to manage a team of 40 admiinistation and drivers

You will ideally have:

• Previous experience in vehicle rental, fleet management, automotive, logistics or a similar operational environment.
• Experience managing or supervising a team.
• A strong understanding of vehicle maintenance and fleet operations.
• Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• The ability to prioritise and make decisions under pressure.
• Good IT and administration skills.
• A commercial mindset and an understanding of fleet utilisation and operational costs.
• A full UK driving licence.
• A practical, hands-on approach and willingness to get involved where required.

Office Hours are 08:30 to 17:30 Monday to Friday

Saturday 09:00am to 12:00 pm (1 in 3 saturdays to be worked and paid on top of annual salary)

Pay: £35,000.00-£42,000.00 per year
