Operations Manager + Truck Driver (MR)

We are looking for an experienced Operations Manager + Truck Driver (MR) to join our transport operations team based at Ormeau, QLD.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operational requirements at the Ormeau base, ensuring drivers, vehicles and daily runs are properly coordinated and that the office remains fully updated on operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and coordinate the day-to-day operations at the Ormeau base.
• Ensure the base is attended on time each morning and daily operations are ready to commence as scheduled.
• Coordinate directly with contractor/customer managers regarding daily work, requirements, changes and operational issues.
• Coordinate with drivers regarding their daily runs, schedules, requirements and any issues they encounter.
• Monitor on-site operations and ensure drivers are following the required procedures.
• Assist with the allocation and coordination of trucks and drivers based on daily operational requirements.
• Communicate with the office regarding the following day's schedules, driver allocations and run confirmations.
• Ensure all information regarding the next day's operations is confirmed and communicated to the office in advance.
• Handle and assist with the induction and training of new drivers when they commence.
• Ensure new drivers understand the site requirements, delivery procedures, safety requirements and operational expectations.
• Monitor daily operational issues and work with drivers and management to resolve them promptly.
• Keep the office regularly updated throughout the day regarding driver movements, delays, issues, completed runs and any changes to the schedule.
• Ensure any vehicle, driver or operational issues are reported to the appropriate team immediately.
• Assist with general fleet and vehicle coordination at the Ormeau base as required.
• Maintain strong communication between the Ormeau base, drivers, contractor managers and the PSV office.
• Support the smooth and efficient running of all operations from the Ormeau base.

Requirements:

• Minimum MR Driver Licence required.
• Previous truck driving experience is preferred/recommended.
• Previous transport/logistics operational experience is essential.
• Experience coordinating drivers and daily transport operations.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• Ability to coordinate with customers, contractors, drivers and office staff.
• Ability to work independently and take responsibility for day-to-day site operations.
• Good problem-solving skills and ability to handle operational issues quickly.
• Reliable, punctual and professional.
• Must be available Monday to Friday.
• Must be able to consistently arrive at the Ormeau base on time and be available for the required operational hours.
• Full working rights in Australia.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of transport operations, be comfortable working with drivers and contractor managers, and be able to take ownership of the daily operations at the Ormeau base while keeping the wider PSV office fully informed.
