Operations Manager - Underground Utility Construction / HDD

Nova Underground is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to join our team. This position will play a key role in coordinating and overseeing underground utility construction projects from start to finish while managing the daily operations of the company.

We are looking for someone who understands underground utility construction, is comfortable managing multiple crews and projects, can keep jobs organized, productive, safe, and on schedule, and wants to run the operation as if it were their own.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and oversee underground utility projects from start to completion
• Plan daily and weekly work for multiple crews and job sites
• Coordinate manpower, equipment, materials, subcontractors, and project schedules
• Communicate with foremen, customers, general contractors, inspectors, engineers, and company management
• Review project plans, specifications, scopes of work, and schedules
• Conduct jobsite visits and monitor project progress
• Identify and resolve field issues before they cause delays
• Ensure crews have the information, equipment, and materials needed to complete their work
• Monitor production, job costs, schedules, and overall project performance
• Schedule new and upcoming projects
• Coordinate mobilization and demobilization of crews and equipment
• Manage change orders, additional work, and project documentation
• Ensure work is completed according to project requirements and company standards
• Promote and enforce company safety policies and jobsite safety requirements
• Manage daily company operations and crew coordination
• Maintain communication between the office and field personnel
• Ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and within budget

Qualifications

• Previous experience in underground utility construction is required
• Supervisory, superintendent, foreman, or project management experience preferred
• Knowledge of underground utility installation and construction practices
• Experience with Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) is strongly preferred
• Ability to read and understand construction plans and specifications
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
• Ability to coordinate multiple crews and projects at the same time
• Strong communication and leadership skills
• Ability to make decisions and solve problems in a fast-paced construction environment
• Comfortable working both in the field and with office/administrative personnel
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
• Must be dependable, professional, and willing to take ownership of projects
• Must be a self-starter who sees what needs to be done and does it without being asked

The ideal candidate is someone who can see the big picture of a project while still paying attention to what is happening in the field each day. We need someone who can take responsibility for a project, coordinate the people and resources involved, communicate effectively, and keep our daily operations running smoothly. This position comes with real authority over crews, scheduling, and hiring, and an uncapped quarterly performance bonus that pays on results.

This is not strictly an office-based position. The right person will be actively involved with our field operations, crews, customers, and jobsites.

Nova Underground is an underground utility contractor based in Lawrenceville, Georgia, providing full turnkey underground solutions, including horizontal directional drilling and underground utility construction. We are a small, growing company, and the Operations Manager will have a direct hand in how it is built. We are looking for an experienced individual who wants to become an important part of our team and help us successfully manage our crews, projects, and continued growth.

Pay: $80,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year

Bonus: Uncapped quarterly performance bonus, paid on production and safety results
