The ideal candidate will possess strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills, an understanding of Department of Defense (DoD) and Special Operations Forces (SOF) operations, and the ability to translate complex analytical findings into actionable recommendations that support senior-level decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review, develop, and provide analytical and technical input for evaluation documentation supporting USSOCOM and Service-level strategies, operations, activities, and emerging threats.
  • Formulate analytical problems, develop research methodologies, and design studies to evaluate operational effectiveness and mission requirements.
  • Support processes associated with the Annual Joint Assessment (AJA) and Joint Military Assessment (JMA), including the development and refinement of analytical inputs.
  • Analyze operational data, identify trends, assess risks, and develop actionable recommendations to enhance military readiness and operational effectiveness.
  • Translate complex analytical findings into clear, concise, and understandable reports, briefings, and recommendations for military leadership and non-ORSA subject matter experts.
  • Coordinate and integrate ORSA activities with military staff elements and functional organizations to ensure analytical products are operationally relevant and actionable.
  • Support strategic planning, operational assessments, and future force capability development initiatives.
  • Collaborate with military planners, analysts, and subject matter experts to support informed decision-making.
  • Prepare and present analytical findings, assessments, and recommendations to senior military leadership and stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Operations Research or an equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct qualitative and quantitative analyses of complex military or operational problems.
  • Experience developing analytical methodologies, conducting research, and evaluating operational data.
  • Strong understanding of analytical techniques, problem formulation, and research design.
  • Ability to synthesize complex technical information into clear, actionable recommendations for nontechnical audiences.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing reports, assessments, and briefings.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with military leadership, staff elements, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Must possess an active TOP SECRET/SCI security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience serving on a Department of Defense military staff, performing executive-level staff functions and facilitating bilateral information flow between commanders and subordinate units.
  • Working knowledge of Marine Forces Special Operations Command (MARSOC), including its organizational structure, mission, and operational responsibilities.
  • Familiarity with MARSOC future force capability requirements development and associated planning processes.
  • Familiarity with the Annual Joint Assessment (AJA) and Joint Military Assessment (JMA) processes.
  • Previous experience supporting USSOCOM, MARSOC, or other Special Operations Forces organizations.
  • Experience developing analytical products and recommendations supporting senior military leadership and strategic decision-making.
