Operations Supervisor

Higgins is looking for an experienced Operations Supervisor to join our Hawke's Bay Maintenance team and help deliver safe, efficient, and high-quality maintenance outcomes across the network.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you'll lead the day-to-day delivery of cyclic, reactive, winter, and emergency maintenance activities, providing leadership to Supervisors, crews, and subcontractors. You'll play a critical role in coordinating operational resources, driving performance, promoting a strong safety culture, and ensuring works are delivered to contract requirements and client expectations.

What you'll be doing

• Leading construction and maintenance teams in the delivery of cyclic, reactive, winter and emergency maintenance works
• Coordinating labour, plant, equipment, and subcontractor resources to achieve programme objectives
• Monitoring daily operational performance and resolving delivery issues, risks, and constraints
• Supporting maintenance planning and ensuring operational readiness across the network
• Maintaining strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, inspectors, and subcontractors
• Providing leadership during incidents and emergency response activities
• Promoting a strong health, safety, environmental and quality culture across the team
• Driving continuous improvement and operational excellence initiatives

What you'll bring

• 5+ years' experience supervising and delivering maintenance operations
• Proven leadership experience managing operational teams and subcontractors
• Strong understanding of road maintenance activities, including cyclic, reactive, and emergency works
• Experience with RAMM/AWM and other client-mandated systems
• Strong communication, organisational and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to identify risks, solve problems and make sound operational decisions
• Demonstrated commitment to health and safety leadership
• Full Class 1 driver's licence
