Job Description

At WM New Zealand, we're not just about waste - we're about resource recovery, sustainability, and innovation.

About the Role

As Operations Supervisor, you'll be the driving force behind the day-to-day operational excellence of our Wanaka team. From coordinating rosters and running toolbox talks to ensuring our vehicles and equipment are safe and ready to go, you’ll lead with energy, purpose, and a commitment to safety and sustainability.

You’ll work closely with drivers and our transfer station teams to ensure our services run smoothly, compliantly, and profitably. No two days will be the same in this hands-on role that blends leadership, problem-solving, and operational oversight.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Supporting equipment maintenance and ordering of parts and PPE.
  • Monitoring waste processing performance and reporting on outcomes.
  • Acting as a visible leader committed to sustainability and safety.

  • Experience in staff scheduling, route planning and resource allocation.
  • A mechanical mindset with hands-on knowledge of mobile plant and equipment.
  • WTR and Class 1 license preferred, or Class 2 would also be ideal.
  • Strong communication and time management skills.
  • Confident using Microsoft Office and interpreting compliance systems.
  • A passion for sustainability and making a difference.
