Ophthalmic Technician

Job Summary

Established Ophthalmology office in Troy seeking a motivated, energetic and compassionate person to work in a fast-paced environment as an Ophthalmology Technician. We are offering on the job training to the ideal candidate.

You will be working directly with our patients and all candidates must have empathy and patience. As well as excellent communication and organizational skills, a strong work ethic and a positive attitude toward patient care.

You will be performing technician duties as well as some light clerical duties related to the daily medical office functions including but not limited to, taking patient history, various testing, stocking and maintaining patient rooms, assisting the Physician, answering multi-line telephone, faxing and filing.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Greet patient in a professional and courteous manner and introduce yourself
• Chart patient chief complaint and medical history, check visual acuity and refraction
• Perform tests including: Humphrey Visual Field (HFV), Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT), Corneal Topography and Fundus Photography
• Maintain, stock and clean exam rooms and instruments
• Assist the Physician, administer eye drops and prepare surgical tray

Qualifications and Skills

• Prefer someone with Ophthalmic Technician experience, however willing to train
• Minimum High School Diploma / GED
• Must be able to multi-task and follow schedules
• Able to work independently as well as part of the team
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
• Knowledge of medication
• Copier, printer and fax machine experience
• Computer skills

Schedule:

• Monday to Friday

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $14.00 - $15.00 per hour

Work Location: In person
