Ophthalmic Technician

Our busy optometry practice is looking for a full time optometric technician. Do you have experience in customer service? Are you timely, organized, and do you have great attention to detail? This could be the right fit for you!

Job Description:

As one of our optometric technicians, you will be part of a team responsible for working up patients for our doctors, entering patient data, performing specialty testing, answering phones, and ensuring the doctors’ schedules run smoothly. As the first stop before seeing the doctor, all technicians must be friendly and courteous, and be able to work as a team.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Excellent customer service is our number one priority
• Maintaining and updating schedules for three optometrists
• Answering phones, forwarding calls, and relaying messages as necessary
• Working up charts for doctors and entering patient data into our electronic health records
• Calling patients to discuss insurance benefits, scheduling, materials ready for pickup, and more
• Filing and general secretarial work
• Performing specialty testing for doctors including fundus photos, visual fields and checking pressures
• Being efficient and friendly

Requirements

• High School Diploma
• Proficient computer knowledge, and ability to learn new programs quickly
• Excellent customer service skills
• Experience working in healthcare or optometry office is REQUIRED
• Knowledge of Office Mate and Eyefinity EHR is a plus

General Office Information & Benefits

• Hours are Monday – Friday, 8:30-5:30, and Saturdays 8:30-12:00. All staff are required to work one to two Saturdays a month.
• Medical insurance is available after 90 days, paid in part by the company.
• Dental is available after 90 days, at no cost to the employee.
• 401(k) is available after 1 year of employment, with a company match.
• Life insurance is provided after 90 days of employment, at no cost to the employee.
