Ophthalmic Technician

OPHTHALMIC TECHNICIAN The ophthalmic technician performs various eye investigations essential to the diagnosis and treatment of eye conditions.

Main Duties And Responsibilities

• CLINICAL CARE

Ophthalmic Investigations

• Humphrey Visual Field (HVF)
• Photography and document the ocular structures in optical images
• Cirrus OCT
• Spectralis OCT (SPOCT)

Ophthalmic Technician Sub-specialty Investigations Includes Either And/or Anterior Segment assessment

• AL-Scan
• OPD Scan
• Endothelial Cell Count (ECC)

Refractive Surgery assessment

• Corneal Topography (Orbscan and Galilei)
• Optical Abberation (HOA) (Zywave)
• Cornea Central Thickness (CCT) (Ultrasound Pachymetry)
• SAFE CARE
• Maintain zero harm to patient
• Practice due diligence during all patient interactions to ensure safety of the patient at all times.
• Undertake corrective actions immediately and consistently when feedback given.
• RESEARCH & QUALITY
• May assist in department projects.
• GENERAL & AD-HOC DUTIES
• Actively involved in hospital and department’s initiatives e.g. eye screening events
• Any other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements Education:

• Diploma in any discipline
• Preferred with IT related/ Engineering/ Biochemical
