Optical Assistant

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Optical Assistant/Admin assistant to join our professional optometry team. The successful candidate will support the daily operations of our optical practice, assist with patient care, and ensure the smooth functioning of optical services. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in healthcare and eye care services, with potential for professional development within the industry. Prior experience in either optics, health care or administration will enhance your effectiveness in this role, but it is not essential.

Responsibilities

• Assisting patients with frame selection and fitting, ensuring comfort and suitability
• Front of house, welcoming customers and booking appointments via phone or in person.
• Managing patient records accurately and efficiently.
• Supporting the dispensing of spectacles and contact lenses, including adjustments and repairs.
• Maintaining a clean, organised, and welcoming environment within the practice
• Providing excellent customer service by addressing patient queries and concerns professionally
• Supporting inventory management by ordering supplies as needed

Requirements

• Previous experience in an optical or healthcare setting is highly desirable but not essential.
• Basic computer skills to operate an easy to use system and use Word and excel for various tasks
• Strong organisational skills with attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills and a friendly demeanour
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team in an occasionally fast-paced environment
• A genuine interest in eye health and patient care
• Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities within the practice
