What they need
Perspective Eyes is a boutique optometry and optical practice in Winnetka looking for a dependable, personable Optical Assistant / Patient Care Coordinator to join our small team.
This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys variety and likes being involved in different parts of the practice. You’ll help with front desk, optical, patient support, insurance, follow-up, and day-to-day office needs.
We’re looking for someone with some optical, optometry, ophthalmology, healthcare, or strong customer-service experience who is eager to learn and grow with us.
Training is provided. More important to us are reliability, initiative, attention to detail, and a warm, professional attitude with patients.
What You’ll Do
Your day may include:
- Greeting patients and managing check-in/check-out
- Answering phones and texts and scheduling appointments
- Helping patients select frames and eyewear
- Assisting with basic optical measurements and frame adjustments
- Learning to explain lens and eyewear options
- Verifying insurance benefits and assisting with routine insurance tasks
- Collecting payments and patient balances
- Following up on eyewear orders, recalls, and patient needs
- Receiving and organizing eyewear orders
- Keeping the front desk and optical organized
- Helping with general practice tasks as needed
Because we are a small independent practice, everyone wears multiple hats. We’re looking for someone who is comfortable shifting between different responsibilities and can stay productive without needing constant direction.
Who We’re Looking For
You may be a great fit if you are:
- Dependable and punctual
- Friendly, polished, and comfortable speaking with patients
- Organized and detail-oriented
- Comfortable working independently at times
- A self-starter who notices what needs to be done
- Interested in eyewear, healthcare, fashion, or patient care
- Comfortable learning new systems and responsibilities
- Looking for a position where you can grow over time
EXPERIENCE
Preferred: At least 6 months of experience in one or more of the following:
- Optical or eyewear retail
- Optometry or ophthalmology
- Medical or healthcare front desk
- Patient care
- Strong customer-service or retail environment
Experience with frame styling, PD measurements, frame adjustments, insurance verification, EHR systems, or optical sales is a plus, but not required.
SCHEDULE
- Approximately 16–30 hours per week
- Consistent part-time schedule
- Weekday availability required
- Some Saturdays required, but not all
- Short Saturday hours
- No Sundays
- No major holidays
- Opportunity for additional hours and future growth
PAY
$17–$23/hour depending on relevant experience and skill level
Compensation may be reviewed as you become fully trained and able to independently handle the core responsibilities of the role.
