Part-time – 3 days per week

Pay: National Minimum Wage / National Living Wage

Peter Jones Opticians is a friendly, independent opticians with practices in Cranbrook and Staplehurst. We are looking for a reliable, friendly and enthusiastic Optical Assistant / Receptionist to join our team.

This is a varied customer-facing role and would suit someone who enjoys working with people and providing excellent service.

Previous optical experience would be an advantage, but we are also happy to consider candidates with strong retail, reception or customer service experience, as training can be provided.

Main responsibilities

• Welcoming patients into the practice
• Answering telephone calls and booking appointments
• Managing the appointment diary
• General reception and administrative duties
• Helping patients choose spectacle frames
• Assisting with spectacle collections
• Taking payments and dealing with customer enquiries
• Keeping the practice and displays tidy and presentable
• Supporting the optometrist and other members of the team
• Working between our Cranbrook and Staplehurst practices
• Assisting with the general day-to-day running of the practice

About you

We are looking for someone who is:

• Reliable and punctual
• Comfortable communicating face-to-face and over the telephone
• Organised with good attention to detail
• Confident using computers
• Able to work independently as well as part of a small team
• Willing to learn and take on a varied role

Previous optical experience is desirable but not essential.

Hours

The position is for 3 days per week, 9:00am–5:00pm.

There may also be opportunities for additional hours/overtime to cover holidays, sickness and busy periods.

Applicants must be able to work across both our Cranbrook and Staplehurst locations.
