OPPORTUNITY TO PURSUE A LONG TERM CAREER AS AN OPTICAL DISPENSER

We are looking for motivated, enthusiastic optical dispenser to work alongside our existing Professional team.

Harries Opticians is an independent Optical Practice providing a high level of customer service to our patients. Alongside the service, we offer professional advice and High Quality Optical Products which are not always readily available on the high street. If you are currently working for a Multiple Optical business we would invite you to consider working for our independent optical practice where you will soon realise that we are not solely governed by sales, as we can release the shackles and let our staff fulfil their job, to the best of their ability with a wide expert product offering to our patients.

You will be one of the first points of contact for our patients and we expect you to provide our patients with a positive experience. We are reqeusting that you have some previous optical experience and a personable and service oriented manner is vital. Also we expect you to be demonstrate excellent communication skills as this will be required to explain our service and optical products to our patients. We will provide you with on the job training and mentoring about eye care, our products and visual concerns. All we ask is that you are willing to learn.

The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting customers in selecting and fitting eyewear, ensuring optimal visual correction and customer satisfaction. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop specialised skills within the optical industry, working in a supportive environment that values precision and excellent service. Prior Optical laboratory experience will be advantageous for this position. The role is paid and suitable for individuals eager to advance their career in optical retail.

Duties

• Assist customers in selecting suitable frames and lenses based on their prescriptions and personal preferences
• Take precise measurements for lens fitting, including pupillary distance and frame size
• Ensure accurate dispensing of spectacles, verifying correct prescription and fit
• Provide guidance on lens options, coatings, and frame styles to meet individual needs
• Conduct basic adjustments and repairs to eyewear for optimal comfort and durability
• Maintain detailed records of customer prescriptions, fittings, and transactions
• Support laboratory processes by preparing lenses for fitting when necessary
• Uphold high standards of cleanliness and organisation within the dispensary area

Skills

• Previous optical experience or related fields is highly desirable
• A real passion for optical retailing, with a strong desire to exceed patient expectations
• Excellent communication and presentation skills as you will be dealing directly with the public, over the phone and face to face
• Self-motivated, enthusiastic with the determination to succeed
• Professional with a strong customer service focus
• Excellent telephone manner
• Meticulous attention to detail to ensure precise measurements and accurate dispensing
• Team player

Job Types: Permanent, Full-time

Pay: £26,000.00-£30,000.00 per year
