Optura Glazing Ltd is a growing optical glazing company based in Glasgow. We are looking for a reliable, practical and motivated person to join our team as an Optical Lab Assistant.

Previous optical experience is preferred but is not essential – full training will be provided.

This is a hands-on role where you will learn the different stages of optical lens processing and become an important part of our laboratory team.

What you'll be doing

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

• Assisting with the preparation of frames and lenses.
• Learning and carrying out optical lab processes including glazing, blocking, tinting and lens edging.
• Using optical equipment such as focimeters following training.
• Checking deliveries and matching items to orders.
• Booking jobs in and out using our internal computer systems.
• Preparing frames and lenses for production.
• Checking and maintaining stock levels.
• Ordering frames, lenses and other lab supplies.
• Keeping the laboratory clean, organised and safe.
• Updating spreadsheets and assisting with job tracking and general administration.
• Responding to calls and emails from stores and customers when required.
• Working with the team to make sure orders are completed accurately and on time.

What we're looking for

We're not necessarily looking for someone with optical experience. We're looking for the right person.

You will ideally be:

• Reliable, punctual and hardworking.
• Practical and comfortable working with your hands.
• Good with computers and able to learn new systems.
• Accurate and naturally attentive to detail.
• Organised and able to manage your time.
• A good team player with a positive attitude.
• Keen to learn new skills and develop within the role.
• Comfortable working in a busy environment where accuracy and deadlines matter.

Previous experience in an optical lab would be an advantage, but we are also happy to consider applicants from other backgrounds.

Experience in areas such as manufacturing, production, engineering, workshops, retail, warehouse work or other hands-on roles may be useful, but is not essential.
