About the role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and customer-focused Optical Sales Assistant to join our team at our Johor Bahru location. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in delivering exceptional service to our customers whilst supporting the day-to-day operations of our optical practice. As an Optical Sales Assistant, you will be the friendly face of Onsight Optical, greeting customers, assisting with product selections, and ensuring every visitor leaves with confidence in their eyewear choice. This role is essential to maintaining our reputation for excellence and driving sales growth within the store.

What you'll be doing

• Greeting and welcoming customers with a warm, professional demeanour upon arrival at the store
• Assisting customers in browsing and selecting eyewear products, including frames, lenses, and accessories
• Providing product knowledge and recommendations based on customer needs, style preferences, and budget considerations
• Processing sales transactions accurately and efficiently, handling cash and card payments with integrity
• Maintaining detailed records of customer purchases and preferences to support repeat business
• Keeping the retail display areas clean, organised, and visually appealing
• Managing inventory stock levels and alerting management to reordering needs
• Assisting with point-of-sale (POS) system operations and stock management duties
• Supporting the optical team by scheduling customer appointments and managing the booking system
• Providing excellent after-sales service, including handling customer enquiries and concerns professionally
• Maintaining a high standard of personal presentation and adhering to company policies

What we're looking for

• High school diploma or equivalent qualification
• Previous retail experience, preferably in optical, eyewear, or customer-facing retail environments
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with customers
• Excellent numeracy skills and accuracy with handling cash transactions
• Basic proficiency with computer systems and POS software (training will be provided)
• Ability to work as part of a team whilst also taking initiative independently
• Flexibility to work retail hours, including some evening and weekend shifts
• Customer service orientation with a genuine desire to help people find suitable eyewear solutions
• Organisational skills and attention to detail in managing daily tasks
• Ability to stand for extended periods and work in a fast-paced retail environment
• Preferred: Knowledge of optical products, lens types, and frame materials
• Preferred: Experience using inventory management systems
