Opticial/Optician Manager

Job Overview

The Optical Team Manager will act as a thought partner in developing organizational effectiveness strategies aligned with OPMT’s mission, vision, values, and strategic objectives. This position is responsible for shaping and leading the entire employee lifecycle, from onboarding through offboarding. The role is critical in cultivating a positive workplace culture, ensuring employees feel supported, and driving satisfaction, retention, and growth. As a member of the administrative team, you will collaborate with department leaders to track performance, strengthen employee engagement, and foster an environment where team members can thrive.

Responsibilities

· Develop and implement strategies to improve employee satisfaction, retention, and performance, supporting both team and patient outcomes.

· Lead recruiting initiatives for optician positions.

· Oversee the full employee lifecycle for non-exempt positions, from recruitment and onboarding through offboarding.

· Monitor employee performance and workplace health metrics, proactively addressing challenges through coaching, performance improvement plans, and structured documentation.

· Conduct regular performance reviews and provide feedback to promote professional growth and accountability.

· Facilitate patient complaints/grievances where applicable

Training & Development

· Design, implement, and maintain a consistent training process for Optical employee operations. This process will be rolled out to all locations in order to create consistency across the board.

· Own training programs for Optical staff and cross-trained employees to ensure consistency and quality across all practice locations.

· Partner with leadership to identify skill gaps and create development opportunities that build accountability and drive growth. For example cross training employees into the optical side of the practice.

Operational Leadership

· Manage scheduling for opticians across multiple locations, ensuring appropriate coverage and efficiency.

· Provide Optician coverage as needed and oversee contingency plans to address staffing gaps where applicable.

· Collaborate with administrative and leadership teams to assess team performance, identify trends, and align employee success initiatives with organizational goals.

Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Organizational Effectiveness, Health Care Administration or related field (or equivalent experience).

· Strong understanding of employee lifecycle management, training, and performance improvement processes.

· Proven ability to manage scheduling, training, and operational processes across multiple locations.

· Demonstrated experience leading departmental operations across multiple sites.

· Ability to manage competing priorities and multi-task effectively.

· Experience in or exposure to healthcare organizations.

· Strategic thinker with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to develop actionable recommendations.

· Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to craft clear, engaging messages for diverse audiences.

· High attention to detail and organizational skills, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in execution.

Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
